The other evening when I took these outfit photos, it was in the mid 90’s.  My head stayed cool while wearing this hat.  I don’t wear hats much because with having a square-shaped face, I feel that they don’t look good on me.  But, when I saw that these boater hats were becoming popular this summer, I had to try one out.  I love my boater hat!  Maybe it’s because it’s flat on the top and the style looks better one me.  If you’re thinking of buying a hat, try the “boater hat” style!

I replaced my denim skirt in my capsule wardrobe with this one a few weeks ago.  I had a darker skirt that I had bought about 6 years ago, but it had faded and just didn’t fit right, so I donated it and bought the one I’m wearing.  It’s from J. Crew and I love it!  You may recognize this ruffle hem top in my outfit photos.  I wore it in this post a few weeks ago.  In this post I’ve dressed it up a bit by wearing a denim skirt and heels.  Even though it is a sweater, it is lightweight and it’s one of my favorite tops in my capsule wardrobe.   It’s from Loft and only a few sizes remain, but you can find more ruffle hem tops here.  These black block heel sandals from Madewell are my favorite heel sandals.  What I love about them is that you can wear them with almost anything, dressy or casual, and are super comfy!

  2. I actually like the frayed hems on clothing right now. I still shy away from really distressed items, but this detail seems less offensive (as an older woman)!
And I love my block heels—they are so functional yet stylish!

  3. LOVE this outfit! The peplum top is so cute, and I love the hat. Never heard of that term before for that style of hat.

  4. What a cute everyday Summer look. The frayed denim skirt is so cute and I love the boater hat. Target has one from Who What Wear I think I will buy. =)
