Try-On Session Reviews: Loft, Nordstrom, Nisolo

It is May already! I can’t believe Summer will be here soon. I have started planning my Summer capsule wardrobe and in doing so, I have ordered a few trending pieces from several stores to try on. I enjoy trying clothes on and you all like to see what they look like on someone like me, who is an average size woman!

I will be using a Navy base color for my Summer capsule wardrobe, so I needed to fill some missing gaps in my wardrobe and find some navy clothes. For several seasons, I have used Black as my base color and mostly all neutral colors. This past Spring, my color base was a navy base color with blue and green as my accent colors. I know I will be using navy as the base color and will be including blue as an accent color, but I am undecided on what my other accent color(s) will be. My coloring is a Summer color season, so cool and muted colors look best with my complexion, so I will be choosing colors within my color palette.

I ordered several pieces from Loft, as well as shoes from Nordstrom and Nisolo, so I will be trying on outfits from those orders in this blog post. I also have orders coming from Grayson, J. Crew, J. Crew Factory and Talbots, so I’ll be doing several more try-on sessions.

When I am planning my next season capsule wardrobe and need to fill in the gaps with a few trending pieces, I like to try-on a few clothes and shoes from my favorite stores and share what I find with you all, since you all like the try-on sessions posts!

Let’s get started with the try-on session reviews. In the photos, I am also wearing my Kendra Scott jewelry: Elisa Gold Filigree necklace with 2″ gold extender and Sophia Gold Drop Earrings.

For size reference, I am 5’9″ in height and have an hourglass body shape. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium, but size up to a Large sometimes, depending on the brand and style of the top. For bottoms, my normal size is a size 10 / 30 waist. My shoe size is a 9 medium width. For outerwear, I wear mostly a size Large, but if it is an oversized style I will size down to a Medium.

The first pieces I tried on were this Navy Smocked Flutter Tee (size Large), these Emory Taper Pants in the “coral flare” color (size Large) and these Toni Pons Estel Espadrille Sandals (size “9-9.5”). I love the smocked detailing around the arm openings on this Navy Smocked Flutter Tee! It is a gorgeous navy color. Since the top is a slim fit, I sized up to a large for a more relaxed fit. I really like how these Emory Taper Pants fit! I’m wearing the “coral flare” color, but it also comes in 3 other colors. The material on these pants moves with you and is flowy. I can see me wearing these pants everyday with all the summer tops, plus also with my swimsuit at a resort on vacation! I have been wanting a pair of espadrilles for the summer and I found this pair of Toni Pons Estel Espadrille Sandals. I absolutely love these shoes and they are VERY comfy!

The next pieces I tried on were: this White Clip Pintucked Flutter Sleeve Top (size Medium), this Navy Floral Ruffle Button Trim Midi Skirt (size Large) and these Toni Pons Caldes Linen Wedge Sandals (size “9-9.5”) in the “stone” color. I love the neutral “stone” color, but I’m thinking I may exchange this color for the “navy linen” color, since I will have a lot of navy and blues in my summer wardrobe. The White Clip Pintucked Flutter Sleeve Top is a tad bit see through, but I am wearing a nude color bra, so it blends in with the fabric. I absolutely love this Navy Floral Ruffle Button Trim Midi Skirt and will be wearing it this summer to church. This skirt would also look beautiful with a white tank and sandals on a beach vacation!

Transform Your Closet
With A Foundation Wardrobe!

Ok, the outfit below has to be one of my favorite outfits of this try-on session! I love the colors on this Medallion Ruffle Button Mixed Media Top (size Medium). The material is soft and flowy. It has a ruffle detail around the arm openings which gives it a feminine look. You could wear this top many ways, with pants, jeans, shorts and a skirt. You could also wear it to work underneath a blazer or cardigan. I absolutely LOVE these Paperbag Taper Pants in the “seaside sand” color (size Large). They also come in a navy chambray color! The material is a linen/viscose blend, which will be cool in the warm summer months. The fabric tie belt is removable to you can wear them without the belt or add a leather belt. I’m also wearing the Toni Pons Estel Espadrille Sandals (size “9-9.5”).

I really like the style, softness and color of this Chambray Dolman Shirt (size Medium)! It has a shirttail hem, but I have it tied in the front. If you are wanting a chambray short sleeve shirt, but don’t want a collar style, this shirt is perfect. I ordered a Large in these Lou & Grey Crosshatch Softstretch Linen Pants in the “sandy shore melange” color, but they run big (I should have ordered a Medium). They also come in 2 other colors. These shoes are the Nisolo All-Day Cross Strap Sandal in “almond” (size 9). They available in more sizes on Nisolo’s Amazon product page. They fit true to size and I love the cross strap style with a slingback strap. These cross strap sandals are very comfortable. I have narrow feet and they are a bit loose in the open toe area, but if you have medium width feet they will probably fit you perfectly.

This White Eyelet Ruffle Split Neck Shell (size Medium) is SO pretty! I just love the eyelet detail on the material, the split ruffle neck and the ruffle detail on the shoulders. This feminine top is sure to elevate your Summer outfits! I paired the top with these Riviera Slim Pants in the “blue multi” color (curvy fit, size 10). I just LOVE the blue color of these pants! The color is lighter than navy, but is a gorgeous deep blue tone. I ordered the curvy fit because I have slightly wide hips with an hourglass shape. These pants also available in a regular fit. I’m also wearing the Toni Pons Estel Espadrille Sandals (size “9-9.5”).

I tried on this Floral Ruffle Shell (size Medium) with the Riviera Slim Pants in the “blue multi” color (curvy fit, size 10) also available in regular fit. This is such a delicate, feminine top and is SO pretty! It is also lined, which is a plus so it is not see through! I’m also wearing the Toni Pons Estel Espadrille Sandals (size “9-9.5”).

Outfit Details:

I ordered a couple of dresses to try on and I love both of them! The first one I tried on was this Striped Tie Waist V-Neck Midi Dress (size Large). The bodice is slightly big, so I may exchange it for a Medium. The material is soft and comfy and I love the tie waist detail and midi length! I’m also wearing the Nisolo All-Day Cross Strap Sandal in “almond” (size 9). They available in more sizes on Nisolo’s Amazon product page.

Ok, this is an absolutely beautiful dress! It is Loft’s Eyelet Ruffle Sleeve Midi Wrap Dress (size Medium). There’s no doubt I will be keeping this dress. I’ll be wearing this dress to church, plus to some summer parties and festivities! I just love the blue thin vertical stripes with tiny white embroidered flower detail. I’m also wearing the Toni Pons Caldes Linen Wedge Sandals (size “9-9.5”) in the “stone” color.
