Dressing for warm weather can be tricky. You want your outfit to look put together and polished, but the heat can put a damper on it. When the sun is blazing, the air feels thick and if you have humidity where you live, the last thing you want to do is wear heavy clothes. I live in the south, where our summers start early and stay for months, our temperatures stay in the 90’s and the humidity can be almost unbearable.

For size reference: My height is 5’9″ and my weight is approximately 185 lbs. I have an hourglass figure and am mid-size. For tops, I typically wear a size Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top. For bottoms, my usual size is a 12, waist 31/32; a 10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam falls at my ankle, 30 inch inseam is full-length on me. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.

My Favorite Outfit To Wear In Hot & Humid Weather

When I’m dressing for hot and humid weather, I will always rely on linen and cotton clothes in my wardrobe. Choosing the right fabric is key to staying cool. Lightweight materials like cotton and linen allow air to flow, keeping your body cool. I’ve learned that loose-fitting clothes in light colors reflect the sun’s rays, reducing sweat and discomfort. My summer wardrobe includes all linen and/or cotton pieces, since those are the fabrics that breath the best in the heat. My favorite piece to wear is a loose fitting and flowy dress, since it provides the most air flow and is so easy to style!

I added this Linen Shirtdress in “cornflower blue/white” (size Large) to my wardrobe (it also comes in a lovely light green color). It is 100% linen and the material is so soft and flowy! It has a shirt collar, cap sleeves, button front closure and it has pockets. It also has a higher waist line and is great for those of us with a middle age menopausal belly, if you are expecting or if you want a relaxed dress with a chic look!

Sandals are the perfect shoe to wear in the heat and humidity! When I saw these Eva Speckled Canvas Sandals (size 9, fits true to size) I knew I had to add them to my summer wardrobe! The sandal body is all leather and have a memory foam footbed for comfort. The cutout design on the top of the sandal gives them an elevated look!

A straw tote is a lovely bag to carry in the summer! Let’s talk about this Embroidered Flare Straw Tote in “natural/havana tan”. This tote is the perfect size!
