A Week of Outfits From My Summer 2026 Hot Climate Casual Capsule Wardrobe

A few weeks ago I shared my Summer 2026 Capsule Wardrobe in my closet here on the blog. My own capsule wardrobe is a combination of pieces from the Hot Climate Spring/Summer 2026 Capsule Wardrobe and the Minimal Chic Summer 2026 Capsule Wardrobe, plus a few other pieces I already had in my closet. In this post, I put together a week of outfits I’ll be wearing. You can use these outfit ideas too!

Our summers here in south (Alabama) are hot and humid, with a big emphasis on “humid”! Even in the shade, it is hot and the only way to stay cool is to be inside in the air conditioning. The warm temps start rolling in in May and the humidity usually arrives at the end of May. Our summers are the longest season, usually lasting through September. Whether you’re dealing with a sticky summer in the South or just muggy weather, the good news is there are some easy ways to stay cool and still look cute.

The Right Fabrics For Hot & Humid Climates

Wearing the right fabrics suited for hot and humid weather is key! You want to wear fabrics that are natural will breathe and keep your skin cool. Natural breathable fabrics are textiles made from plant fibers that allow air to circulate, wick moisture away from the body, and help regulate temperature—making them ideal for warm weather or layering.

Linen (flax), cotton and hemp are the most breathable natural fabrics. Rayon, viscose, modal and lyocell (tencel) are also breathable; these fabrics are derived from natural sources but are processed.

  1. Oh my, I just get so excited when I see you post things that I have in my closet. Your outfits are always classy and you always look so nice and put together.

Can’t wait to take a little trip and pack some of these outfits.

    Hugs,

    Jill

  2. Thanks for this post! I live in South Florida and know about hot and humid! I’m putting together outfits for an August wedding in Alabama. I’m planning to wear my linen pieces from Quince. Your outfit suggestions are very helpful. Stay cool!

  3. Love these outfits. Like Jill, I love to see your posts in my email! We live in Central West Florida and I have found that the more open weave sleeveless sweaters are surprisingly cool. Banana Republic Factory and Gap Factory have had some very cute ones. You just want your bra to be in a darker nude to you so you don’t see anything through the sweater.

  4. I really enjoyed how these outfits show that a capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to feel repetitive. The focus on breathable fabrics like linen and cotton, along with versatile neutral pieces, is especially helpful for anyone dealing with hot, humid weather. One thing I’d add is that simplifying your wardrobe can also make it easier to plan for other major life milestones, from travel to weddings and beyond. I found https://helloprenup.com/ to be an interesting resource for couples preparing for marriage and organizing important conversations alongside all the other planning that comes with a new chapter.
