Try-On Session Reviews: J. Crew Factory New Spring Arrivals, Rothy’s, Edited Pieces

For a couple of weeks, I have been planning my Spring capsule wardrobe. Spring is my most favorite season to wear outfits and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for warmer temps and all things Spring! I really love the colors of clothes for Spring, blues, greens and bright pinks. There’s something about an outfit that includes a cool navy color tone along fresh white and crisp blue colors.

I ordered a few pieces to try on from one of my favorite stores, J. Crew Factory. I have always loved J. Crew Factory’s Jeans; the fit and the styles are really great with budget prices! I also needed a pair of navy flats, so I ordered these Rothy’s The Point Flats in the “navy” color. I have been needing a good belt to wear with my jeans and pants and ordered this Edited Pieces Reversible Horsebit Belt. So I will be trying on and reviewing everything I ordered in this blog post.

Like I mentioned in this post from last week, “How To Shop Online For Clothes: 8 Best Tips To Actually Love What You Buy“, I shop the majority of the time online. When I am planning my next season capsule wardrobe, I will try-on a few clothes and shoes from my favorite stores and share what I find with you all, since you all like the try-on sessions posts!

Let’s get started…

For size reference, I am 5’9″ in height and have an hourglass body shape. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium, but size up to a Large sometimes, depending on the brand and style of the top. For bottoms, my normal size is a size 10 / 30 waist. My shoe size is a 9 medium width. For outerwear, I wear mostly a size Large, but if it is an oversized style I will size down to a Medium.

I was super excited to see this Striped Zip Collar Sweater (size Medium) online and at J. Crew Factory couldn’t click the “Add To Cart” button fast enough!!! This style of collared sweater has been trending since the Fall and is lovely on this navy striped sweater. You can wear this sweater now with booties, then wear it in the spring with mules or flats. You can also dress up this sweater and wear it to work with a skirt and heels or dress pants and loafers! I also tried on these 10″ High-Rise Skinny Jeggings In Signature Stretch (size 30), which I absolutely love! I love the softness of their “Signature Stretch” denim. They are stretchy, but hold their shape. They have a 28″ inseam and a 10″ waist, which fit my body shape perfectly. I tried on these pieces with my favorite sneakers, the Veja Campo (size 9 US/40 EU) with natural color logo.

Here is a closeup photo of the Striped Zip Collar Sweater (size Medium). The quality and fit of this sweater seems much more expensive than what it actually is!

The “pale chambray” color of this Girlfriend Crewneck Tee (size Large) is so pretty! I already have the “white” and “striped” colors in this tee, which I love wearing! This is an all-cotton tee, which is so easy to wear by itself or layered with a cardigan or jacket over it and is a breathable fabric in the warm months. I sized up to a Large for a relaxed fit. I tried on the tee with these 10″ High Rise Button Fly Raw Hem Jeans Signature Stretch (size 30). I have a pair of dark wash button-fly jeans that I purchased from J. Crew Factory a few years ago that I love wearing. I like that these also have the button-fly and also have a raw hem! I love my Rothy’s Leopard Pattern Point Flats so much that I ordered the same flats in the Navy color! My normal size is a 9, but I sized up to a 9.5, since they are a pointy toe style. I have been needing a Classic Gray Button-down Cardigan (size Large) to wear with my dresses to church and this one fits well and is so soft. It is a versatile piece you can wear many ways! I sized up to a Large in this cardigan so I could either wear it by itself or as a layer. You can wear this cardigan over a tee and jeans like I have it styled below, open over a dress with heels or by itself buttoned up and leave a couple of the buttons open at the top with pants and flats. The cardigan would also look pretty with this Scalloped Cami, which comes in several colors! I brought out my Striped Girlfriend Tee (size Large) from my closet to wear underneath the cardigan. I have been planning on including blue and green as the accent colors for my own Spring capsule wardrobe, but this Gingham Poplin Shirt in the “tea rose” color (size Medium) is very tempting to include pink as another accent color! The pink color looks softer online and is a more vivid pink in person, which is gorgeous! They also have the same shirt in the Gingham Lightweight Cotton Shirt in the “fresh bouquet soft azal” pink color, which is a lighter weight shirt. I have had the lightweight shirt in the navy gingham print (see photo below) in my closet for several years and actually prefer that material. I also am trying on the J. Crew Factory 10″ High Rise Skinny Jean in All-Day Stretch (size 30), which includes Lyocell in the fabric! I really like Lyocell as it gives a softness to the material and is also a sustainable material. They have a zip fly with a raw hem and pretty denim wash. A nude color ballet flat is so pretty in the Spring season! I brought out my Sam Edelman Meg Flats in the “soft beige leather” color (size 9) from my closet to style with the outfits and they are currently ON SALE for 40% off! I brought out this White Girlfriend Crewneck Tee (size Large) to try-on with these 10″ High Rise Jeans Signature Stretch in “port wash” denim wash. These are a nice medium wash jean with zip fly and solid hem, which is an all-around good jean to have in your wardrobe! I usually don’t wear belts, but have been wanting to add one to my wardrobe. I first saw this Edited Pieces Reversible Horsebit Belt on fellow fashion influencer Jean Wang, from ExtraPetite.com and loved the horsebit detail, which looks a lot like Gucci, but a fraction of the price! I saw these Straight Jeans in All-Day Stretch (size 30) and wanted to try them. Because I have wide hips with an hourglass body shape, straight jeans are not flattering on me. However, a “slim straight” jean fits better since the legs have a slim silouette. If you have more narrow hips you may love these jeans. The denim wash and texture is perfect! I wished these jeans would have worked with my body shape because they are so comfortable. I’m wearing my Lightweight Gingham Shirt in the “navy” color (size Medium) from my closet. This navy gingham shirt has been a J. Crew Factory classic piece. This shirt has held up really well since I first bought it several years ago when I first starting blogging! I love tops with stripes and also ones with chambray. Chambray always captures my attention and love wearing them! The soft blue color and texture of the fabric coordinates well with so many other pieces in my closet. While I enjoy wearing my button-down chambray shirt, a peasant style top, like this Chambray Ruffleneck Peasant Top (size Medium). This top looks great with white jeans, like I styled below, and you can also wear it with pants or a skirt! I wanted to try these 10″ High Rise White Skinny Jeans (size 30). They fit really well and are not see through. I really like these jeans, but already have a similar these Wit & Wisdom White Pants (that look like jeans and that I love wearing) in my closet so I’ve got to decide on keeping these. This Navy Pattern V-Neck Top (size Medium) is gorgeous in person! It has a pretty v-neck with small ruffles around the neckline and along the shoulders. This top looks great with jeans like I styled it below, but would be gorgeous with pants and skirts with heels for work! I haven’t decided which pieces I’m going to keep and return.
