Try-On Session Reviews: Walmart and Amazon Summer New Arrivals
I’ve got another try-on session reviews today! Several of you have emailed and messaged me requesting recommendations for summer dresses. In the previous post on the blog, “Try-On Session Reviews: Styling Target’s Summer New Arrivals“, I styled a few of Target’s new arrivals, including dresses and shorts outfits. In today’s post, I picked out several new arrivals at Walmart and an Amazon vest and shorts set.
Since Walmart’s clothes are so affordable, sizes sell out quickly, so if you see any pieces you like in this post, I recommend ordering them right away! Several of these dresses will be great to include in a capsule wardrobe, since you can style them different ways. And, the Amazon 2-Piece Set (mine is the “beige” color) can be worn together in an outfit or styled individually with other pieces in your closet!
For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh approximately 170 lbs., have an hourglass figure and I am mid-size. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (for slim-fit, I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 12 (depending on the brand and fit of the bottom) OR a 31 waist; a10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam falls at my ankle, 30 inch inseam is full-length on me. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.

Before I start showing the clothes, I want to mention how much I LOVE this Spanx OnCore Sculpting Mid-Thigh Short in the color “soft nude” (mine is a size Large)! I bought this shapewear earlier this year and I HIGHLY recommend it! I like to wear it underneath dresses and sometimes shorts to smooth out your tummy and thighs. I also is great for preventing thigh chaffing. I’m wearing it underneath everything in the photos below!
I ordered this Amazon The Drop Britt Tiered Maxi Tent Dress in “white eyelet” (size Large). I tried it for free with their “Try free for 7 days” payment option! This dress runs big; I should have ordered a Medium size. The quality of this dress is amazing and I love the eyelet detail. It is lined, so no see-through!

This Amazon The Drop Square-Neck Cutout Tiered Dress in the “black/whisper white” color (size Large) is just darling! This would be the perfect dress to wear to a lunch event or out shopping with your friends! It is a tier-style dress, a square neck, soft fabric and size cut-out detail.

This next dress from The Drop is unique! It’s the Ritu Crochet Maxi Dress (size Large) and is a crochet style, which is having a moment this summer! I’m seeing crochet tops, shorts and dresses at many retailers and on Instagram.

I was pleasantly surprise to see that this Amazon 2-Piece Vest and Shorts Set fit so well! I’m wearing a Large in the “Beige” color. This is THE BEST fitting tailored vest I have tried on (and I have tried on a lot of vests trying to find the right one in a beige color). Needless to say, I’m keeping this 2-piece set! The price for the set is VERY reasonable and well-made too.

This is the first dress from my Walmart order. It is the Free Assembly Sleeveless Square Neck Midi Dress in the “Bengal Str” color. I’m wearing a Large. It’s all-cotton, has thin adjustable straps, an invisible back zipper closure and is a lovely fit-and-flare style.

This would be a lovely dress to wear to a summer wedding! It is the Scoop Belted Halter Midi Dress in the “Star White Black Stripe” color (size Large). I love the criss-cross neck, fabric tie belt and elegant chic style!

This t-shirt style dress has been around for years and its considered a classic! I love Walmart’s take on it for the summer, the Time and Tru T-Shirt Dress in “Black Soot Stripe” (size Large). It’s all-cotton with thin-black stripes and short sleeves. I styled it casually with chunky strap sandals and a straw bag. You can also add a belt and layer on a blazer or cardigan with pumps. You can even wear it into the Fall season, with a denim jacket and ankle boots!

Here is another lovely dress from Walmart, the Scoop Gathered Poplin Halter Dress in “bright white” (size Large). It has a lovely halter neck style and an elastic waist, to taper in your waist. I love the midi length, which makes this a gorgeous chic dress!

I love the minimalist style of this Free Assembly Ribbed Tank Midi Dress in the “black stripe” color (size Large). It is a cotton/spandex blend so it is soft and stretchy! I’m wearing it casual with sandals, but you could also wear it with pumps and a blazer to work and into the Fall with a denim jacket or cardigan and boots.
