Elevated-Casual Black Watch Tartan, Green & Black Holiday Outfit

Talbots is one of my most favorite places to shop! I have been shopping there for years. Talbots is an inclusive lifestyle brand that has everything you need for your wardrobe. I can always count on Talbots to have just the right styles for whatever occasion I need an outfit!
For size reference: my height is 5’9″ and I weigh approximately 170 lbs., have an hourglass figure and I am mid-size. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (for slim-fit, I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my usual size is a 12, waist 31; a 10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam falls at my ankle, 30 inch inseam is full-length on me. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.
I created a gorgeous elevated-casual outfit to wear during the holidays with classic and timeless pieces from Talbots. I was so excited to find this Black Watch Tartan Non-Iron Popover Shirt! I’m wearing a size Large. Let me tell you why I was so excited to find this top. Earlier this year, I did a DNA mail-in test and discovered that I am approx. 40% Scottish! A bit of history about the Black Watch Tartan pattern: it dates back to the 18th century and was designed for the Black Watch, a Scottish military regiment to patrol the Scottish Highlands. The tartan’s dark blue and green colors may have been chosen to help the soldiers blend in with the Highlands’ terrain. It’s often worn by Scots at Highland Games and weddings. I have always thought this tartan was beautiful and now I’m proud to wear it!
Shop The Outfit:
I’ll be comfortable for Christmas by wearing these High-Waist Barely Boot Jeans in “black” (size 12). These jeans have a straight leg with a subtle bootcut. This style of jeans is perfect to wear with many styles of shoes like flats, pumps, boots and casual sneakers. They have a bit of stretch and hold their shape all day, with the cotton/polyester/spandex material blend.
I added this Mixed Stitch Cardigan in “highland green” (size Large) for a pop of color and warmth. I absolutely love this soft cardigan and the stitch detail is beautiful! This cardigan also doubles as a mockneck sweater top when you zip it up! You can also wear this cardigan casually with jeans and a tee layered underneath and sneakers, or wear it to work layered over a blouse, skirt and pumps. It comes in six colors to choose from!
These Edison Bow Suede Flats in “black” are so lovely! They fit true to size; I’m wearing a size 9. They are so comfortable and I’m going to have these in my wardrobe for years to come, since they are a classic and timeless shoe.
These Pearl Stud Earrings coordinate perfectly with this outfit. The jewels on the earrings are lovely with the jewel embellished buttons on the popover shirt.
