Try-On Session: Madewell and J. Crew

I have been planning my Summer capsule wardrobe and wanted to add a few pieces, so I ordered several things from stores to try on. Yesterday, I posted a Try-On Session of items from ABLE, Loft, Old Navy and Target and today I am sharing what I ordered and tried on from Madewell and J. Crew.

Since the J. Crew brands restructured last year, they have been knocking it out of the park with lovely styles! J. Crew, J. Crew Factory and Madewell are a few of my most favorite fashion brands. J. Crew has just released their New Summer Arrivals and they are gorgeous!

Let’s start the try-on session…

For size reference, I am 5’9″ in height. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium or Large, depending on the brand and style of the top. For bottoms, my normal size is a size 10 / 30 waist. My shoe size is a 9 medium width.

J. Crew

This Ribbed Ruffle Tank in the “cloud” color (a light blue) is so pretty and I love the ruffle detail around the arm opening. I’m wearing a size Large. I also tried on the green color (see below). It comes in 5 colors. Ok, these Seaside Tie-Waist Pants in the “distressed fatigue” color (size Medium) are perfect and I LOVE everything about them! I was looking for some dark green pants to wear this Summer and I found them! They are a Linen/TENCEL lyocell mix so they will be cool in the Summer. They have an elastic waist, front slant pockets and back patch pockets. These pants includes a Sustainable fabric and are Fair Trade Certified. I’m wearing the green color and they also come in 5 other colors. You will love these pants! I’m also wearing the Steve Madden Travel Stud Sandals in the “tan” color (I sized up half a size to a 9.5″) I shared in yesterday’s post.

I found an adorable graphic tee also at J. Crew! This is the Vintage Cotton “Beach Rose” Tee (size Large). The blue color of this tee is so pretty that I had to order it and try it on. Needless to say I’m keeping it for my Summer capsule wardrobe. They currently have a series of these graphic tees and on the product page it says “our new collection of hand-drawn graphics based on some of our favorite plants’ seed bags. In 2004, we set out to replicate one of our favorite thrift-store T-shirts, and the result is our vintage cotton—famous for its heathered texture and softness. Now, we’ve made them more durable than ever so they’ll outlast even your most enduring retro find.” Here is their tees in the series: Fleurs Sauvages, Monterey Strawberries, Cosmo Daydream and Le Riviera Citrons. I’m also wearing the Seaside Tie-Waist Pants in the “distressed fatigue” color and Madewell Liane Woven Slide Sandals (size 9).

Here is the J. Crew Ribbed Ruffle Tank in the “moss” color (size Large). This green color is an olive hue with a yellow undertone. The ruffle tank in the “cloud” color (shown above) looks better with my skin tone, so I will be keeping that one. I ordered these Madewell Linen-Blend Track Trousers in the “heathered natural” color (size Medium) and LOVE them! They have an elastic waist with a button front, which is a great alternative to a tie waist. I’m also wearing the Sam Edelman Gala Leopard Pattern Sandals (size 9) I shared in yesterday’s post.

Here is the Madewell Linen-Blend Track Trousers in the “heathered natural” color (size Medium) and I’m wearing them with the Vintage Cotton “Beach Rose” Tee (size Large). I also ordered these Boardwalk Slide Sandals in the “english saddle” color (size 9). These sandals have been popular for the past few years and this year Madewell improved the footbed by adding some comfy padding. I love the way these sandals look and fit! I considered buying these last year, but there was no padding, so I passed. I’m glad they improved them this year. It was a tossup on which sandals to keep from my order: the Liane Woven Slide Sandals or the Boardwalk Slide Sandals. I don’t usually buy two items so similar, but I LOVE both sandals, so I’m keeping them both!

I just LOVE this Lighthouse Beachside Shirt in the “lighthouse” color, which is a soft white color. I’m wearing a Medium. It is made of a double-gauze cotton and has a button front with a straight hem. It is a lightweight cotton top and is SO pretty, perfect in my opinion! I’m not sure if I’m going to keep this one or the Camp Shirt shown below. Ugh, I love them both! I’m also wearing the Linen-Blend Track Trousers and the Boardwalk Slide Sandals.

Here is another white button-down short sleeve shirt from Madewell. It is the Cap Sleeve Camp Shirt (size Medium) and is SO pretty! This shirt looks a bit more dressy than the Lighthouse Beachside Shirt, but it looks great with casual pants and shorts too. It is a cotton-linen blend and it also has a straight hem, so looks great either front tucked or untucked. I’m also wearing the Linen-Blend Track Trousers and the Boardwalk Slide Sandals.

Madewell has made a longer length in denim shorts, yea! I have a 5″ pair of Madewell denim shorts that I have worn A LOT the past couple of summers, so I was glad to see these Madewell 7″ High Rise Denim Shorts (size 30). They are 72% cotton/27% TENCEL™ lyocell/1% spandex mix, which fit perfectly. They have a raw hem, which I really like. My Madewell 5″ denim shorts also have a raw hem. I’m definitely keeping these! For all of you that prefer wearing longer length shorts, you will LOVE these. I’m also wearing the Lighthouse Beachside Shirt and the Boardwalk Slide Sandals.
