Try-On Session: ABLE, Loft, Old Navy, Target

It’s time for another try-on session! I’m getting my closet ready for my Summer capsule wardrobe, so I ordered several new things to try on. I took for photos to share with you all so you could see them! I have another try-on session blog post tomorrow you may also like, Try-On Session: Madewell and J. Crew.

For the past few seasons, I have worn neutral colors along with a few light blue pieces. For my Summer capsule, I’ll be adding some color to my capsule. I am drawn to earthy colors like blue and green so those will be in my color palette.

Let’s start the try-on session!

For size reference, I am 5’9″ in height. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium or Large, depending on the brand and style of the top. For bottoms, my normal size is a size 10 / 30 waist. My shoe size is a 9 medium width.

Target

There are some gorgeous dresses at Target and I found this Blue Floral Ruffle Sleeve Dress (wearing a Medium) that I absolutely LOVE! It is in their Universal Thread line, which is their budget-friendly style similar to Madewell. This dress features a delicate blue floral pattern with ruffle detail at the shoulders, ruffle stitching across the chest, a relaxed waist and a single tiered bottom. This dress comes in 3 other colors which are all so pretty. I ordered this Brixton Joanna Straw Hat in the “honey/black” color, size Small. I missed out on buying this hat last year and it was so popular it sold out mid-summer. It’s such a pretty straw hat! I like that the hat also has an adjustable strap inside to tighten or loosen the band. I’m also wearing these Steve Madden Travel Stud Sandals in the “tan” color (I sized up half a size to a 9.5″). This is the cross strap style and they also have the Skyler Sandals, which are the same style but in a slip-on version. The silver studs on these sandals elevate your outfits with a pop of shininess.

ABLE

I found a couple of denim jackets that actually move with you and aren’t stiff! They are the Merly and the Bailey denim jackets from ABLE (details about the company are mentioned above and on their About page). First, is the Merly denim jacket (wearing a Large). This jacket has slim arms, relaxed body and a beautiful light denim wash. This jacket is buttery soft and features distressing, which gives the jacket a “lived in” look. The 75% cotton / 25% lyocell mix gives the jacket it’s softness and movability. At first I was concerned if the distressing would increase over time, but other fashion bloggers who own the jacket say it does not and that the jacket holds its shape beautifully. I really like that this jacket falls just below the hip!

And, here is the ABLE Bailey denim jacket (wearing a Large). This jacket is also buttery soft with a 75% cotton / 25% lyocell mix. It has a medium denim wash color and the style is gorgeous! This jacket falls right at the hips, which is more of a traditional style.

Shortly before I discovered the ABLE denim jackets, I ordered this Two By Vince Camuto denim jacket (wearing a Large) from Nordstrom and I wanted to share this one with you all. It is currently on sale at Nordstrom for 40% off, but has limited sizes in stock. It is available at Dillards in all sizes at regular price. I love the style of this jacket and it fits perfectly! It is a darker denim wash and is so pretty. It is a mostly cotton mix with polyester and spandex, so it has some movability to it.

This Seersucker Ruffle Shell (wearing a Large) is perfect in my opinion, with its round neck, ruffle sleeve detail at the shoulders and the seersucker texture. I normally wear a Medium in Loft tops, but sized up to a Large for a relaxed fit. I’m wearing the white color and it also comes in green. I am definitely keeping this top and look forward to wearing it all Summer! Now, let’s talk about these High Rise Wide Leg Jeans in the “whitecap” color. I’m wearing my normal size 30 and they fit perfectly! They are fitted at the waist and hip, relaxing into a wide leg and they are a 98% cotton and 2% elastane mix giving them a soft denim feel. Honestly, they feel more like a thicker pant than denim! I also love how the hem has a wide band, giving the jeans a vintage vibe. I’m keeping these jeans! How pretty are these Sam Edelman Gala Leopard Pattern Sandals?! I’m wearing my normal size 9 and they are SO comfy. I love how Sam Edelman shoes are comfortable right out of the box! They are just a tad bit loose on my foot, since my foot is slightly narrow.

I just love this Chambray Square Neck Top (wearing a Medium)! It’s buttery soft with its 60% lyocell 22% linen 18% polyester material. It is a gorgeous blue color that will look great with pants, slim skirts, jeans and shorts. I did a front tuck in the pants, but it also looks pretty left untucked. These Seamed Twill Wide Leg Pants in the “irish cream” color (wearing a size 10) are so pretty and would be perfect for Summer! They are a cotton/linen mix and the seam on the front of each leg adds interest to these pants. They have a front zip with button closure, side seam pockets and back patch pockets. They fit true to size. I also ordered these Madewell Linen-Blend Track Trousers (will be in another try-on session in a few days), which also fit great, so it’s gonna be hard to choose which one to keep! I’m also wearing the Sam Edelman Gala Leopard Pattern Sandals in my normal size 9.

This Striped Square Neck Top (wearing a Medium) is the same style as the Chambray one above. It is a linen blend mix and a gorgeous stripe pattern, which will be beautiful to wear in the Summer! I left it untucked so you can see the length and how well it drapes over the pants. I’m seriously considering keeping this one! I’m wearing it with the Seamed Twill Wide Leg Pants in the “irish cream” color (my normal size 10). These Kenzie Slide Sandals from Target (size 9) are very comfortable and fit true to size. These are the “cognac” color. They have an instep top band that keeps the sandal in place and a contoured foot bed.

Here is another pretty top from Loft, the Linen Flutter Sleeve Tee (wearing a Medium). It is 100% linen and will be cool for the Summer months. It features stitching detail around the neckline and on the edge of the flutter sleeves. This linen material is slightly thin on this top but I’m wearing a nude bra so it isn’t completely see through. It also comes in black which is also pretty! I’m wearing it with the Seamed Twill Wide Leg Pants in the “irish cream” color (my normal size 10). I absolutely LOVE these Madewell Liane Slide Sandals in the “english saddle” color (wearing my normal size 9)! What I love about these sandals is they have a woven leather strap, a square toe, some padding on the footbed and of course the go-with-everything brown color. It was difficult choosing between the Target and Madewell sandals, but I really like the woven leather strap on these Madewell sandals so I’m keeping these.

I found a few pieces at Old Navy that I just had to share with you all! First up is this Flutter Sleeve Midi Dress in the “volcanic glass” color (wearing a Large), which is a deep navy color. It also comes in black. I love the straight, easy to wear style and the flutter sleeve detail at the shoulders. This is a versatile dress and can wear it casual or dressy! You can also add a cardigan or jacket and a belt for a different look. I’m wearing it with the Madewell Liane Slide Sandals in the “english saddle” color (size 9). I added this Madewell Packable Fedora Straw Hat in the “small/medium” size. How great is it that you can easily roll up this hat and pack it in your tote or suitcase when you go on vacation this Summer!

Next is this Garment-Dyed T-Shirt Midi Dress in the “volcanic glass” color (wearing a Large). The color on this one looks more muted than the one above and is a straight style also. It is a cotton jersey material with a crew neck and side slits at the hem. It also comes in a “warm hickory” color, which looks like a pretty deep peach color. You could add a belt around the waist for a more fitted look. I’m also wearing the Madewell Packable Fedora Straw Hat and the Madewell Liane Slide Sandals in the “english saddle” color.

This Linen-Blend V-Neck Henley Tee is such a pretty top and I’m wearing it in the “olive green” color. This is a size Medium and I probably could have sized down to a Small. It comes in several colors to choose from, including a “black white stripe”, “cedarwood”, “yellow stripe” and a blue tie dye pattern that are all so pretty! Ok, these High Waist Cropped Linen Pants in the “flax linen” color are perfect for Spring and Summer! I wish I had ordered a Medium size because the Large size I’m wearing is a bit big in the waist and legs. These pants are so soft and have a tie, elastic waist and a cropped, cuffed hem. These pants are a great budget-buy at only $34.99! I’m also wearing the Steve Madden Travel Stud Sandals in the “tan” color.

This Ruffled Square Neck Embroidered Top is gorgeous and is only $29.99! I’m wearing a Medium. It has a slightly oversized fit so I could probably size down to a Small. The ruffle detail is so pretty on this top and has embroidered flowers on it. I’m wearing the white color and it also comes in a “warm coffee” color. I love how these Linen-Blend Culotte Pants fit! They have a slip-on waist with a solid band in the front and an elastic waist on the back. I’m wearing a size 10 and they fit perfect. I’m wearing the Black color and they also come in a gray color and blue stripes. I’m also wearing the Sam Edelman Gala Leopard Pattern Sandals.

I’m loving the color of these High Waist Twill Utility Pants (wearing a Large)! The color is “linden” and are an earthy-green color. The Large size I ordered and am wearing is too big, but I wanted to let you all see how pretty these pants are. They remind me of the High Waist Cropped Linen Pants in the “flax linen” color I’m wearing above, but have more of a relaxed style and uncuffed hem. They have a tie front and an elastic waist and both front and back pockets and are also available in 4 other colors. I’m wearing the Ruffled Square Neck Embroidered Top and the Kenzie Slide Sandals.

These StretchTech Jogger Pants in the “stone wall” color are very comfy and stretchy! I’m wearing a Large and are a bit loose on me, so you may can size down. They are a polyester/spandex mix making them easy to wear. The green color I’m wearing is limited in sizes but they also come in several other colors. I’m wearing the Ruffled Square Neck Embroidered Top and the Madewell Liane Slide Sandals in the “english saddle” color.
