4 Ways To Wear Classic Fall Layers

Fall is officially here, do you have your closet ready for the crisp, cool weather? Do you enjoy wearing layers? I love wearing all the fall layers, especially lightweight jackets and cardigans! Some fall layers come and go with the trends, but we tend to reach for the classic layers that are always in style and go with so many of our fall outfits.

In today’s post, let’s style four classic fall layers…a trench coat, denim jacket, cardigan and a sweater blazer! Mostly all the pieces in the outfits are from my own Fall capsule wardrobe from my closet. The Trench Coat

The trench coat has been around for years and it’s such a classic and timeless layer to wear in the Fall. It comes in different lengths and colors, but the most common is a longer length and beige color. This neutral color style can be worn dressy or casual and makes an outfit look polished. I have this exact Amazon The Drop Trench Coat in the “hummus” color and love it! It is well made and is just under $100! I added this Jenni Kayne Cashmere Sweater in the “taupe” color to my closet this year and it is so soft. Any neutral color sweater will work in this outfit. These Madewell Demi Boot Jeans are slim fitting, then flare out slightly at the hem and look great with flats and boots. I absolutely love these Rothy’s The Square Flats in the “tuxedo” color. They are inspired by Chanel’s cap toe flats, but are a fraction of the price and are so comfy! The Denim Jacket

A denim jacket is not only a light layer, but it also adds a bit of color and texture to an outfit. I have tried a few denim jackets over the years and the ABLE Merly Jacket in the “clean wash” color is my most favorite! It has a slightly longer length and is a cotton/lyocell blend, which is so soft and moves with you! The White Central Shirt has short sleeves, but you can also wear a long sleeve button-down shirt, white tee or blouse with this outfit. I recommend sizing down in the White Central Shirt. If you want to wear a light color denim, but don’t want to wear white, these Straight Jeans in the “swan” color will look great with your Fall outfits. The Cardigan

If the weather is cool, but you don’t feel like wearing a lightweight jacket, add a cardigan to your outfit! A cardigan keeps the chill away without being cumbersome and can provide texture to your outfit. Button-down Cardigans, like this Boyfriend Cardigan in the “whisper white” color look great over tees and blouses, but you can also wear it by itself buttoned up. In this outfit, I added a Black Crewneck Tee, these Slim Straight Jeans (LOVE these jeans!) and these subtle pattern Leopard Flats in the “driftwood spot” color (another pair of comfy Rothy’s!). The Sweater Blazer

Sweater blazers came about a few years ago and they are still popular this year! Sweater blazers are a great alternative to the traditional structured blazer. You can wear them dressy or casual and are a bit more comfortable and move with you. The Juliette Sweater Blazer in this outfit is a longer length with a loose fit and is in the color “hthr khaki”. If you would like a shorter length blazer in the same color, this Cecile Sweater Blazer is lovely and comes in other colors to choose from.
