How To Transition An Outfit From Summer To Fall
Thank you to Talbots and LTK for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
I’m all for having a versatile wardrobe! My whole website is dedicated to capsule wardrobes and styling the pieces in your closet in different ways to make the most of your wardrobe. Many of your classic and timeless pieces can be worn in multiple seasons. Today I’ll show you how to transition an outfit from summer to fall.
My summer to fall outfits are from the New Arrivals at Talbots. Talbots is one of my most favorite stores to shop. They not only have classic and timeless pieces, but they also have trending pieces that will add color to your outfits. I have been shopping at Talbots for years and have many Talbots pieces in my closet.
For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh approximately 165 lbs. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (for slim-fit, I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 10 or 12 (depending on the brand and fit of the bottom) OR a 30/31 waist, a 10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam comes to my ankle. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.
Summer Outfit
The summer outfit I’m wearing features this Ribbed Scoop Neck Tee (size Large), Denim A-Line Skirt (size 12) and Violet Stitch Vachetta Sandals (size 9). The tee is a mostly cotton blend so the material is breathable and is cool in the summer heat. I love the colors in the tee, which is an olive green, indigo blue, light pink and mustard yellow. This tee is light, airy and colorful for the summer and will transition well into fall since it has olive and mustard colors in the striped pattern!

Denim skirts are classic and timeless pieces that are lovely to wear in the summer. I was excited to get this Denim A-Line Skirt, as the length and fit are just right and the denim wash is pretty for summer, but the darker wash will transition in to the fall season.
These Violet Stitch Vachetta Sandals have been very popular and I love the style. The tan color is a lovely neutral color that will go with all your summer outfits.
Fall Outfit
To transition this outfit from summer to fall, you can:
1. Swap out the shoes – replace the Violet Stitch Vachetta Sandals with closed toe shoes, like these Maddie Woven Clog Mules (size 9) that I am wearing. A closed toe shoe will keep your toes warm as fall rolls in and the temperatures cool down. I absolutely love these clog mules! The woven leather design is beautiful and they add texture to an outfit. It is so easy to walk in them with the heel and vamp padding for extra comfort and support. They also have a memory foam footbed so they feel great all day!
2. Add a lightweight layer – Adding a lightweight layer like this Casual Cotton Jacket in “Spring Moss” (size Large) I’m wearing, will keep the chill away when the temps are crisp and cool. The shade of green of this jacket is so pretty! I’ll be wearing this jacket many times this fall!

Here is a closeup photo of these beautiful Maddie Woven Clog Mules (size 9). They have a 1 1/2″ heel height making them easy to walk in. I’m 5’9″, which is considered tall, and it is very easy for me to walk comfortably in these shoes.
I have my eye on a few more New Arrivals at Talbots! Here are more new arrivals that I recommend adding to your summer outfits to transition into the fall season:
