Try-On Session Reviews: Amazon, Mango, Loft Lou & Grey, Everlane

I have started prepping my winter capsule wardrobe and had a few things on my list I wanted to try-on to see how they would fit in my capsule. Over the past few weeks I have ordered a few things to try-on at home. During the winter season, I tend to wear more athleisure pieces, since they feel warm and cozy while I’m working at home. I like to dress up a bit when my Hubby and I go out so I found a couple of blazers and pieces that can be either dressy or casual.

Amazon had a sale a couple of weeks ago and I placed a “Try Before You Buy” order. I really like that you can select items you want to try on and anything that doesn’t fit you can send back and won’t be charged. With more of us shopping online, I wish all retailers did that! I also ordered some clothes from Loft / Lou & Grey with my Loft StyleRewards and they arrived last week. I have a Loft Mastercard (which is a regular Mastercard) and I earn StyleRewards when I shop at any retailer, buy groceries, etc. I use my StyleRewards to redeem for items at Loft and Ann Taylor. I personally love it since I basically get free clothes for the money I spend anyway!

For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh approximately 170 lbs. and have an hourglass figure. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (for slim-fit, I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 10 or 12 (depending on the brand and fit of the bottom) OR a 30/31 waist, a 10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam falls at my ankle. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.

The first outfit I tried on was this Amazon Striped Zip Sweater (size Large) in the “Style-2 white” indigo stripes color. It also comes in several other colors. I really loved this sweater, being it was SO SOFT, but it runs big and I needed a Medium. This sweater doesn’t have the Try Before You Buy option. It’s been a while since I have tried Everlane’s jeans, so I ordered these Way High Slim Jeans in “Sail Blue” (size 31 with 29″ inseam). They are more of a straight jean than slim, in my opinion, but I like the relaxed style and I really like the color of the denim on these jeans. I’m also wearing my Frye Ivey Leather Sneakers.

The next sweater I tried on was this Amazon Black Stripe Crewneck Sweater (size Large). It’s a shorter style sweater, but it isn’t cropped. It has a relaxed style and I like that it is 100% cotton! It also comes in other colors. This sweater doesn’t have the Try Before You Buy option, but currently has a 20% coupon that is applied at checkout. I’m also wearing the Way High Slim Jeans in “Sail Blue” (size 31 with 29″ inseam) and my Frye Ivey Leather Sneakers.

Here is another top from Amazon, it’s the Amazon Essentials Fleece Sweatshirt in “white/navy, stripe” color. It is a well-made top and the inside is fleece and is very soft. I can’t wait to wear this one more! I’m also wearing the Way High Slim Jeans in “Sail Blue” (size 31 with 29″ inseam) and my New Balance 327 Sneakers (this year’s style here and here).

I tried the Amazon The Drop Blake Blazers in Black and Praline (sized down to a Medium for a fitted look) and OMG these blazers are SO GOOD! Priced under $75, the quality of these blazers are great and they fit beautifully! They have other colors including this Plaid pattern one. I have found the perfect tanks for layering underneath blazers, cardigans and jackets…the Amazon Aware Rib Knit Layering Tanks (wearing the “white” in size Large). I love these Adjustable Dressy Belts on Amazon! This is the 2-pack of black and brown in the “01a-black+brown” color (I’m wearing the black color) and they come in other colors too! I’m also wearing my Mother The Dazzler Mid-Rise Slim Jeans (size 31) and MGemi Danza Ballet Flats (size 9).

Here is the Amazon The Drop Blake Blazers in Praline (sized down to a Medium for a fitted look). I also bought the Amazon Aware Rib Knit Layering Tank in “black” (wearing size Large). I’m also wearing the Mother The Dazzler Mid-Rise Slim Jeans (size 31) and MGemi Danza Ballet Flats (size 9).

Long, robe-style coats are back again this year and I bought two for my closet, this Mango Oversized Knitted Coat in “Medium Heather Gray” (sized down to a Medium) and the brown one below. I’ve been needing a couple of sleeveless tops to wear underneath layers this Fall so I ordered this Amazon The Drop Sleeveless Ribbed Top in “white” and “black” to try. (size Large). They are super soft and stretchy and fit great! I was so excited to get a pair of the trending Adidas OG Sambas Sneakers (women’s equivalent size 9)! They are a bit hard to find right now, I ordered mine from FarFetch. These sneakers are based on men’s sizes, but if you pull up the Size Guide on the shoe’s product page, you can find the equivalent women’s size to order. You may also like these Adidas Court VL Sneakers, which look nearly identical to the Sambas, but cost less (I’ll also link those below)! I’m also wearing my AG Mari Black Slim-Straight Jeans (size 31).

Here is the Mango Oversized Knitted Coat in the “Medium Brown” color (sized down to a Medium). I couldn’t make up my mind which color I liked better, so I’m keeping both! I had StyleRewards to use at Ann Taylor so I ordered the Essential Mock Neck Sweater Shell in the “winter white” I’m wearing below and also “black” (size Large). Compared to the Amazon Mock Neck Top above which is heavily ribbed, this one from Ann Taylor has tiny ribbing. I love both styles so I kept both styles! I had some points at Rothy’s I needed to use so I redeemed them for these Rothy’s The Point Flats in “Desert Cat” (sized up to a 9.5). I love Rothy’s shoes since they are very comfy. I’m also wearing my AG Mari Black Slim-Straight Jeans (size 31).

Taupe neutrals are really popular this Fall and I’m loving this H&M Fitted Blazer in “Beige” (size Large)! I’m wearing the Amazon The Drop Ribbed Sleeveless Top in “black” (size Large) underneath the blazer. I’m also wearing the 2-Pack of Dressy Adjustable Belts in the “01a-black+brown” (wearing the black), my AG Mari Black Slim-Straight Jeans (size 31) and my Sam Edelman Loraine Loafers in “Cedarwood” (size 9).

Ok, back to a few athleisure and weekend outfits! Here is the Loft Lou & Grey Wafflestitch Cowl Neck Tunic Top in “birch” (size Medium) and Loft Lou & Grey Ponte Side Pocket Leggings in “black” (size Large). I’m also wearing my New Balance 327 Sneakers (this year’s style here and here).

Here is another top I found a Loft. It is the Lou & Grey Textured Drawstring Sweatshirt in “Ecru Melange” (size Medium). I really like the beige color, it is soft and it looks great with leggings and jeans. I’m wearing it with the Loft Lou & Grey Ponte Side Pocket Leggings in “black” (size Large) and the Adidas OG Sambas Sneakers (women’s equivalent size 9).

I found this Amazon Side Split Tunic Top in the “A-light Grey” color (size Large) and I’m glad I ordered it. It is a great top to wear on the weekends with leggings. You could also wear it by layering it with a puffer vest like this one. I’m wearing the top with the Loft Lou & Grey Ponte Side Pocket Leggings in “black” (size Large) and the Adidas OG Sambas Sneakers (women’s equivalent size 9).

I really liked this Amazon Aware Women’s Relaxed-Fit Half Zip Tunic Sweatshirt in “Ivory” (size Large), but it was a bit too big on me because of the relaxed fit style. It’s an amazing quality made sweatshirt and you can wear it with leggings, jeans and casual pants! I really like the Amazon Aware line since they are made carbon neutral and climate friendly.

I have been wanting a charcoal gray zip top to wear with jeans and leggings and I found this one on Amazon! It is the Amazon Essentials French Terry Fleece Quarter-Zip Top in “Charcoal Heather” (size Large). You can wear this top by itself, add a puffer vest or jacket and layer a tee or turtleneck underneath! This top comes in several other colors to choose from.

The last top is a great basic essential to have in your Fall and Winter wardrobe: a long sleeve striped tee. This Amazon Essentials Classic-Fit Long-Sleeve Crewneck Tee in “Black White Stripe” (size Large) is SO good! It’s long enough that you can wear with leggings and the fit looks great tucked into jeans with a cardigan or jacket. I added the Mango Oversized Knitted Coat in the “Medium Brown” color (sized down to a Medium) below as a warm layer.
