Mix It Up Friday Link Up #9: Nutella Mug Cake

Have you ever heard of a Mug Cake?  I hadn’t until I saw a few recipes on the internet.  What a concept!  I love the idea of whipping up just a few ingredients and cooking them in a coffee mug for a quick dessert!  Forget making a whole cake, you can cook a cake in a mug in the microwave, just for you, in 1 minute!
Gather the following ingredients: 4 tablespoons all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa, 4 1/2 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, 3 tablespoons nutella, 1 egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
Mix all dry ingredients in a small mixing bowl.  Add the milk, nutella, egg and vanilla to the dry ingredients.  Mix until blended.  Pour into a regular size coffee mug.  The coffee mug should be filled halfway with the batter (see picture below).

Cook in the microwave for 60 seconds.  It’s best not to overcook the cake, because you don’t want your cake to be dry, you want it moist.  Enjoy!

Ingredients:
4 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Mix all dry ingredients in a small mixing bowl.  Add the milk, nutella, egg and vanilla to the dry ingredients.  Mix until blended.  Pour into a regular size coffee mug.  The coffee mug should be filled halfway with the batter.  This is important, because when the cake is cooking, it will rise higher than the mug.  This is normal.  Once it stops cooking, the cake will settle back into the mug.
