A couple of weeks ago while my daughter and I were out in town, she wanted to stop at Urban Outfitters.  While we were browsing, I stumbled upon this cold-shoulder top.  I have been looking for a top to replace one in my capsule wardrobe, due to the material unraveling where I wore a necklace with it.  I thought this top would be perfect!  I could wear it with jeans, shorts and pants and would match several bottoms in my current capsule wardrobe.  It was a no-brainer, this top was going home with me!

I ordered these corsica espadrilles from J. Crew.  I saw them online and I’ve been needing a pair of neutral wedges.  Plus, they were 40% off from a sale J. Crew was having.  I was a little apprehensive about getting them, since the heels are 3 1/2″.  I’m already 5’9″ tall, so any heel higher than 2″ makes me feel like a giant.  Surprisingly, they are comfortable and very easy to walk in.  Plus, I LOVE the way they look on my feet.  Yep, I’ll be wearing these A LOT!

Can you see my cat, Sophie, in one of the photos above?  I took these photos in my foyer with the door open to let in natural light.  She was sitting on the steps going upstairs, just waiting at the chance to run outside.  Luckily she didn’t but she tried a couple of times.  She’s an inside cat and we adopted her 4 years ago.  Don’t mind the picture hanger and rough places on the back wall.  I’ve been picking out paint for the foyer, hallway upstairs and the den area.

With each capsule wardrobe I have each season, it seems my clothes choices are evolving.  I starting to really like neutral-colored clothes.  It’s easier to mix and match clothes that are solid colors.

Has your taste in clothes changed recently or changed in the last few years?  What colors are you drawn to?

  1. I’m in love with neutrals now too. Simple and classic! Although I’m still a girly girl at heart and love some bright colors now and then, but it’s a little more rare or saved for a special occasion. Also- those J Crew wedges are adorable, they always have the BEST sales. Same with Banana Republic- I love rummaging through their sale jewelry!

  3. Love the neutrals. I feel like my taste is in a constant state of flux. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and more experimental?

  4. Love this outfit! I can create a similar look with items in my closet. I’m growing to love neutral clothes more and more. Also, I didn’t know you were a tall girl, like me! 5’10”, here. 🙂

  5. What a lovely outfit! I used to love bright colors in my wardrobe, but since becoming a parent, I’ve gone for a lot of muted and gray tones. It’s the most practical for me, especially now that my daughter is two. I don’t have to think about color combinations and pattern mixing as much. Thank you so much for joining us for this week’s #shinebloghop!

  6. I never get tired of this combo it is a timeless classic and one I go to all the time. Great find in the cold shoulder top and I love the shoes!
