A Casual Outfit For Hot Summer Days

|

Thank you to Express and rewardStyle (LTK) for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.

Can you believe Summer is almost here? Do you have your wardrobe ready for the hot, Summer days ahead? I live in the South where we have hot and humid summers, so I trend to wear clothes and shoes that keep me cool as possible in the heat. It’s only May, but the temps here are already in the upper 80’s! It’s going to be a hot summer!

Since I use a capsule wardrobe in my closet, I always include several wardrobe essentials and staple pieces in neutral colors. When I am getting my capsule wardrobe ready for the summer season, I like to include a few shorts and tees and several pairs of sandals. I want to look my best and stay cool during the summer, but I also don’t want to spend a fortune on my wardrobe essentials.

Express has lots of wardrobe essentials as well as trending pieces for the season. I always like seeing what’s in their New Arrivals section for the latest styles. You can shop in the Express stores and it is also easy to shop online in the convenience of your home!

For size reference, I am 5’9″ in height and have an hourglass body shape. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium, but size up to a Large sometimes, depending on the style of the top. For bottoms, my normal size is a size 10 / 30 waist. My shoe size is a 9 medium width. For outerwear, I wear mostly a size Large, but if it is an oversized style I will size down to a Medium.

Longer length shorts are trending for the Summer, especially bermuda shorts. I found these Super High Waisted 90s Bermuda Jean Shorts (I’m wearing a size 10, so they fit true to size), which is a wardrobe staple and can coordinate with so many tops and tees! They have a 9.5″ inseam, so they are a longer length without feeling too long! Another way you can wear these shorts is to roll up the hem one or two times to make them a shorter length! The denim material is a cotton/rayon/spandex mix so there is a bit of stretch making these shorts super comfortable. I like the raw hem and the slight distressing which gives them a casual vibe. See these bermuda shorts at Express, along with all shorts styles for the Summer.

Another wardrobe staple for the Summer I found at Express are these Square Toe Flip Flops in the “pecan” color (size 9, fits true to size), a pretty neutral color that will coordinate with all your outfits. I’ll be able to wear these shoes with all the outfits this summer, plus they will look great with casual dresses at the beach and with my swimsuit and coverup at the poolside! Express has a nice selection of sandals for the Summer!

When I saw this Linen-blend Crew Neck Muscle Tank in the “pale pink” color, I loved the style and color of it! I sized up to a Large for a relaxed fit. It is lightweight and the pale pink color is not see through (I’m wearing it with a nude bra underneath). The “pale pink” color top has a slight gold shimmering effect in the material which is so pretty! This Linen-blend Crew Neck Muscle Tank comes in several other colors to choose from! I’m wearing this top with shorts and sandals, but you could also dress up this top with pants, a blazer and heels for work or wear it with jeans and sneakers on the weekend! Express has lots of trending tops to wear this Summer!

I also ordered these Cat Eye Sunglasses in the “shiny gold” color. They have muted gold rim with a cat eye style. They are also 100% UVA/UVB protection, which will help protect my eyes when I’m out in the sun. I love the shape of the frame and look forward to wearing these sunnies a lot!
