When it comes to choosing clothes to wear in the Fall, one of the favorite tops is a plaid shirt. The plaid pattern, especially if the colors are burgundy or green, fits right in with a fall wardrobe. Plaid is also popular in the Winter and Spring seasons. In the Fall, you can wear plaid alone or layered with other clothes. A cardigan and a plaid shirt are a perfect match! Wear it with a blazer for a preppy look, with a vest to add texture or even over a tee for a relaxed look.
Plaid shirts make excellent additions to a capsule wardrobe. You can wear them so many ways! You can dress them up or wear them casual. If you have just one plaid shirt in your closet, you can wear it at least 10 different ways, like in the photos below (from Pinterest).
1. With a Cardigan
2. With a Blazer
3. With a Vest
4. Over a Tee
5. With a Skirt
6. With a Jacket
This plaid shirt looks great with the brown leather jacket. Almost any color of plaid shirt looks great with a brown or black faux or real leather jacket. Add a neutral-colored scarf, jeans and ankle boots or sneakers to complete the look.
7. Under a Sweater
Plaid shirts look fabulous under neutral color sweaters, because they give sweaters a “pop” of color to create interest. This combo can be worn with a pair of girlfriend jeans, like in the photo, or with leggings or even a pencil skirt.
8. Around Your Waist
9. With Distressed Jeans
10. With a Scarf
If you don’t want to wear a plaid shirt by itself, add a scarf! Since the shirt has a plaid pattern, opt for scarves with solid colors, like an ivory scarf or a scarf that brings out one of the colors in the shirt. A navy scarf would also look good with this shirt.
