A 10×10 Challenge Outfit & Necklace (Trendy Wednesday #139)

Monday I revealed the clothes and shoes in my Fall 10×10 Challenge.  I’m having so much fun with this mini capsule!  See what’s in my Fall 10×10 Challenge capsule here.  Next week, I recap all the outfits I created from this mini capsule in a blog post.  You can see what I’m wearing everyday by going to my Instagram account, @classyyettrendy.

I’ve been super busy this week!  Between taking my daughter to and from school, doctor and dentist appointments, plus all the daily work on this site, I haven’t had much time to think about what to wear.  Because my 10×10 Challenge capsule has just a few clothes and shoes, I haven’t had to make too much of a decision on what to wear this week.  Even my regular capsule wardrobe is like that.  Since everything coordinates, it eliminates the stress of deciding what to wear and getting dressed.  I just pick a top, pants and shoes, add jewelry and a handbag and I’m out the door!

The outfit I’m wearing reminds me of Fall.  I’m wearing three items from my 10×10 Challenge capsule: the ivory v-neck top, olive skinny jeans and peep toe ankle boots.  I added this Sorority Gal Cotton Pearl Initial Gold necklace from John Wind Modern Vintage Jewelry, this Gold Link Bracelet from J Crew Factory and my Givenchy Medium Antigona Satchel.  This is my favorite outfits of the challenge so far.  When I was selecting the clothes for this challenge, I reached mostly for my favorite items in my Fall capsule wardrobe.  That way, I knew I would love what I wore everyday during the 10×10 challenge.

I’ve already worn my Sorority Gal Cotton Pearl Initial Gold necklace from John Wind Modern Vintage Jewelry so many times!  You can see me wearing it in a few outfits on Instagram.  This past Friday, when my husband and I were at Pottery Barn, a sales rep. asked me if I was wearing a John Wind necklace.  She said she had the Sorority Gal Cotton Pearl Initial Bracelet!  That sparked a conversation about the jewelry.  You can see the necklace in the photo above.

A big thanks to Caroline at Un-Fancy and Lee at Stylebee who started the 10×10 Challenge concept!  You can see several bloggers and Instagrammers participating in the 10×10 challenge with the #fall10x10 hashtag and the #10x10friends hashtag.  There, you can see what’s in their 10×10 challenge too!

The 10×10 challenge is great for testing your capsule wardrobe for several ways of wearing your favorite items.  It’s also a way for you to start out a small capsule wardrobe and see how you like the concept.  Personally, I wouldn’t go back to my messy closet with too many clothes and those stressful days of trying to get dressed.  I absolutely love capsule wardrobes!  Each season I look forward to publishing my Capsule Wardrobe eBooks for others to use for their closets!  If you want a capsule wardrobe that has all the clothes and shoes (and even accessories) selected for you, 100 outfit ideas created for you, a travel packing guide and more, get your copy in the Capsule Wardrobe eBook Store.

You’ll probably be seeing more of my Sorority Gal Cotton Pearl Initial Gold necklace from John Wind Modern Vintage Jewelry.  When I first saw their jewelry line, I instantly fell in love with the statement pieces, like the Sorority Gal collection, but their Pearl collection and their Lockets collection is beautiful too.

I was given the John Wind necklace to review, but as always, all opinions are my own.

  1. That’s a fabulous top Leanne, so easy for every figure and a great price. As usual a great choice of outfits. Well done.

  2. My closet is definitely still a work in progress and working towards this concept. Getting dressed every day shouldn’t be so hard! You look great as always.

  3. I have started working on creating a capsule wardrobe for myself. It was very challenging at first. Mostly because my family thinks everyone of the females should have a ton of clothes. They all have clothes in more than one closet. We do have all 4 seasons here though. However I moved to my very first apartment and my bedroom does not have a closet so I used that as a reason to downsize my clothes. I bought a gorgeous armoire that works perfect for me. Now since I have to have a smaller amount of clothes like 1/4 of what I used to have, I started to look for quality pieces not cheap pieces. For my family if you spend $50 on an item you are crazy except if its for a winter coat. Well I spent more than $50 for a top and on a dress but I love both pieces and I am able to now wear them at least once a week and if I get brave enough I know I could wear them more than once a week. My family went nuts because I spent that much. They keep telling me I am wasting my money. However I now shop once a season and they are shopping every month at least. Thank you for giving me the courage to try something so radical for me given my family upbringing about clothes.

  4. Perfect combo. I too scared to commit to 10 items, but you did a great job picking things you can mix. I think that would be the problem for me. Can’t wait to see all your outfits.

  5. A simple, comfortable, and trendy outfit all rolled up in one. I’m the same, with the kids and the blog I’m just super busy trying to balance everything. I’m too much of a pack rat to even try a capsule wardrobe though. I just have so many clothes, I can’t give up.
