3 Ways To Style A Sweater Jacket

Spring is almost here! With warmer temperatures and longer days, it’s the perfect time to go on a spring getaway! When you get ready to pack your suitcase, you want to have lots of outfits on hand, but you need to pack efficiently so everything fits in the suitcase. They key to having lots of outfits to wear while away from home is to pack mostly neutral color pieces that will mix and match with each other.

Sweater Jackets (or Lady Jackets) have been very popular for the past few months and are still on-trend. I found the Kate Cardigan at Talbots and I knew I had to add it to my wardrobe! It is a versatile piece you can wear multiple ways! I love everything about this sweater jacket: the texture of the knit weave, the length (which falls at my hips so it fits well) and the gold buttons. It comes in several colors; I also love the “Ivory” color. When you take it with you on a spring vacation, you can style this sweater jacket casually when sightseeing during the day. Then, you can dress it up a bit when you go out to dinner. In this post, I’ll show you how to mix and match the Kate Cardigan at Talbots with several new pieces at Talbots.

For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh approximately 170 lbs. and have an hourglass figure. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (for slim-fit, I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 10 or 12 (depending on the brand and fit of the bottom) OR a 30/31 waist, a 10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam falls at my ankle. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.

Outfit 1: Sweater Jacket, Striped Tank & Ivory Wide Leg Jeans

In this outfit, I’m wearing the Sweater Jacket (size Large) unbuttoned over a striped tank (size Large) with wide leg trouser jeans (size 12). This outfit would be great to wear sightseeing during the day on your spring vacation or to work as a business-casual outfit.

This Talbots Two Way Tank in “Indigo/White” is versatile and reversible, with a scoop neck on one side and a v-neck on the other! I’m going to get a lot of wear out of this piece this spring, summer and into the fall season. It also comes in black and rattan colors. I’m loving these Wide Leg Trouser Jeans in “Natural”. Outfit 2: Sweater Jacket & Straight Leg Pants

I love how versatile a Sweater Jacket is! You can wear it buttoned up by itself as a sweater and style it with pants, jeans or a skirt. Here I’m wearing the Sweater Jacket (size Large) with Talbots New Southampton Pants in “Rattan” (size 12). These pants are my favorite as they have a high waist, a straight leg that is a perfect length, side pockets, plus a bit of spandex to hold their shape. These similar Adrian Bit Loafer Flats in “Rattan” will complete your outfit. You can wear this outfit out to dinner on a spring vacation or wear it to work as a business casual outfit.

Outfit 3: Sweater Jacket, White Shirt & Trouser Jeans

Another way you can wear this Sweater Jacket is by wearing it over your shoulders, over a white button-down shirt. The Talbots Boyfriend Shirt (size Large) is a longer length poplin shirt that you can wear multiple ways. Here I am wearing it with my Wide Leg Trouser Jeans in “Clara Wash” (size 12) that I have in my spring capsule wardrobe.
