6 Ways To Style A Matching Top and Skirt: Gap Linen-Blend Tank & Maxi Skirt

A few weeks ago I found this top at Gap in a beautiful blue pattern and in a linen blend fabric. I was excited to see that they had a skirt and shorts in the same material. I bought the top and skirt and when it arrived it was even more lovely! I’m always looking to style pieces in multiple ways, so I put together six outfits featuring these pieces. All three pieces comes in multiple colors and patterns!

For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh approximately 170 lbs., have an hourglass figure and I am mid-size. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (for slim-fit, I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 12 (depending on the brand and fit of the bottom) OR a 31 waist; a10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam falls at my ankle, 30 inch inseam is full-length on me. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.

When I initially ordered the top and skirt, I ordered a Large regular and it was too short, so I exchanged it for a Large Tall and it fits perfectly. They also have the 365 High Rise Linen-Blend Shorts in “Blue & White Floral” which would look beautiful with the top! Here are three ways I styled the Gap Cropped Linen-Blend Tank in “Blue & White Floral”(size Large Tall):

With Tailored Shorts:

For this first outfit, I paired my Abercrombie Sloane Tailored Shorts in the “light taupe” color (also in Curve Fit) (sized up to a size 32). I love these shorts and bought them in this light taupe color and black. If they are sold out of your size, check back often because they restock, since it is one of their most popular shorts! They have a hidden elastic waistband in the back, pleats in the front (for those of us who need to hide our tummy!) and perfect mid-thigh length. Just wash them in cold or cool water and hang to dry with no ironing! I added my Sam Edelman Bay Sandals in “Almond Patent” (true to size 9).

With White Pants:

White pants are a wardrobe staple, especially a clean, linen-blend style in the summer! My pants are from J. Jill a couple of years ago, but these J. Jill Pintucked Linen-Blend White Pants are very similar. I also like these J. Crew Kate Linen-Blend White Pants (they come in several colors). I chose my Sam Edelman Bay Slides in the “saddle” color, a neutral brown sandal to offset the white in the outfit. I’ve had these sandals it seems like forever and they continue to be one of my most favorite sandals to wear!

With Denim Shorts:

This is an all-casual outfit, comfortable yet stylish. I’m wearing my favorite denim shorts, the Wit & Wisdom AbSolution Denim Shorts (size 10). They have an elastic waistband on the inside which is stretchy and keeps the waist in place. The material is a stretch cotton-blend so they move with you and hold their shape all day. I added my Birkenstock Arizona White Sandals (size EU40, equivalent to a size 9) to complete the look.

The next outfit is an easy way to style the skirt. I paired this Amazon Essentials White Tank (size Large) with the Gap Linen-Blend Maxi Skirt in “Blue & White Floral” (size Large). I added this Straw Belt in “Natural Straw” to bring the tank and skirt together. I added my Sam Edelman Bay Sandals in “Almond Patent” (true to size 9) to coordinate with the sandals to complete the look.

With A Sweater Tank:

Sweater Tanks are trending this season. I initially thought this Everlane Organic Cotton Open Stitch Tank in “bone” (size Large) would be too hot to wear where I live, which is hot and humid, but the open stitching allows the air to freely move throughout the top, making it very cool and comfortable to wear! I love the stitching detail around the neckline and arm openings! And, the length is perfect to wear untucked like I am wearing it below. These Madewell Karla Strap Sandals in “desert camel” are a minimalist style sandal that look lovely with any outfit!
