This past weekend I changed my capsule wardrobe over to the Fall season.   I especially enjoyed changing it out this year because now that I work at home, I get to wear whatever I want now!  Because I dress casual everyday now, I needed to pack away the majority of my dress pants and skirts, keeping out just a few to wear to church.  The only disadvantage to dressing casually everyday, I needed to fill several voids in my capsule wardrobe.  I took advantage of this when Nordstrom had their Anniversary Sale about a month ago.   I bought these jeans on sale that I’m wearing.  They are Articles of Society from Nordstrom.  I knew I would like this pair because I love my white pair from the same brand.  This olive twist front tee is new this season too.  I added another twist front tee and two ruffle hem tees this season.  I made sure when I bought them that they would coordinate with at least three other items in my capsule wardrobe and that I could wear layers over them.  This initial necklace has been on repeat every since it came in the mail about three weeks ago.  It’s a statement piece, but is just the right size, which I like.  I have received several compliments on it and I highly recommend it if you are looking to buy one for yourself or as a gift!  These leopard mules are new (c/o Shopbop) and are my favorite brand of shoes…Sam Edelman!  I don’t think there is a pair of Sam Edelman shoes I don’t like; I love them all.  Leopard mules, and mules in general, are on-trend this Fall.  This pair is very comfortable and required no break-in time.  I walked all day in them and my feet felt great.  I’ve linked up a few other pair of leopard mules and regular mules below.

A bit of news…I have Invisalign!  When my family and I changed dentists last year, he recommended that I get braces after I told him I didn’t like the gap between my front teeth.  Since my daughter has braces,  I went to a consultation at her orthodontist and they recommended Invisalign.  So far, it’s working out great, just getting used to the trays and some soreness.  They said it would take about a year to a year and a half of wearing them.  What’s great is that they aren’t noticeable and I can take them out anytime.

If you are curious about what’s in my Fall capsule wardrobe, stay tuned because there will be a blog post on Friday!  I’ll share how I created it, similar to my popular blog post, How To Start A Capsule Wardrobe: A 5-Step Visual Guide.  I used a few core basic essentials, similar to the ones in this blog post, How To Create A Core Closet.

  1. Love this outfit on you……these jeans are super flattering! I still haven’t jumped on the mule train but I’m loving this pair.

  2. Really enjoy your e-mails. Two questions: Why so many pictures of the same outfit when one would suffice and when are torn jeans going to be out of style ? I’ve never been a fan of such an untidy look. I have a pair like that but the tears are legit from hard work in the garden and there is nothing attractive about them. Cuts down on the long slim look of anyone. Give it a rest please. There’s an old saying “no sense being poor and looking poor”……..

  3. Catherine, thank you for being a subscriber and for your questions. Bloggers who have fashion blogs post multiple photos in the same outfit in different poses so that others may see how the clothes look at different angles. Distressed jeans have been in style, as long as I’ve had this blog, they may stay in style, they may not, who knows. Distressed jeans are a personal preference; some people like them, some don’t, that’s up to you and what you like to wear. Most of the jeans I have are non-distressed, and have a couple of pairs that are distressed.

  4. Thank you Shelly! I was hesitant about getting a pair of mules, thinking they would fall off my feet when I walked, but they are like wearing slide-in sandals and are easy to walk in!
