Old Navy Try-On Session – April

I’m in the process of planning the Summer 2019 capsule wardrobe E-Books. When I’m in the planning phase, I research about popular colors and clothes styles, plus what’s trending. For everyone that uses the seasonal E-Books, you all know\that every one includes several core closet essentials, but they also include a few trending items too. The first E-Book of the Summer, The Essential, is scheduled to be published at the end of next week!-

I went to Old Navy this past Saturday to see what new items were in the store. I found a few things I wanted to try on so you all could see how they look! I didn’t buy anything on this trip to Old Navy, but it was good to get some ideas on a few items for the E-Books. I look to Old Navy to sometimes add their trending pieces to the wardrobe plans in the capsule wardrobe E-Books.

First up, I tried on this Yellow Gingham Wrap Dress (the size Large was slightly roomy on me) and Denim Jacket (size Large). It is a darling gingham pattern! I also tried on these Slingback Block-Heel Sandals in the cognac brown color. I’m a size 9 in shoes and they fit true to size.

I tried on this Striped Jersey Swing Dress which was so soft and fit great! It comes in an array of colors to choose from. You could include it in the travel capsule I posted on Tuesday, “How To Create A Carry-On Capsule Wardrobe (Spring Edition).” This dress looks great to wear alone with these Slingback Block-Heel Sandals, or you could wear it with a cardigan or denim jacket and add a belt for a more structured fit. You could even wear the dress over a pair of black leggings with a pair of these adorable ballet shoes in the “honey mustard” color.

I saw this pretty Butterfly Print Ruffle Trim Top (size Medium) that I tried on with these High Rise Distressed Straight Ankle Jeans (size 12). I usually wear a size 10 in jeans and pants, but I have to size up in Old Navy bottoms since they tend to run small. The material in the top is a viscose rayon and would feel good when it’s hot outside. I tried on the white pattern and they also had the black pattern which was pretty too. The fit on these jeans were perfect! I would have bought them if I didn’t already have 3 pairs of blue jeans in my Spring capsule wardrobe. I loved the medium wash and the distressing on the knees.

I added this Twill Moto Jacket in “Abalone Pink”. I tried on a size Large and it was tad bit big. The pink color on this moto jacket is a nice color tone for the Spring!

I saw this Square Neck Embroidered Top in “herbal green” (size Large was a tad bit big) and loved the shade of green! They also have it in white and a black/white combo and all 3 colors are gorgeous! I’m wearing the High Rise Distressed Straight Ankle Jeans (from above) and the Faux Leather Double Strap Slingback Sandals in the “mustard” color (size 9 true to size). These sandals are so cute for the Spring and Summer and come in 5 colors!

I loved this Linen Blend Dolman Sleeve Henley in “navy stripe” (size Medium). I came close to buying it for my Summer Capsule wardrobe, but I haven’t yet decided which base color I’ll be using (black or navy), but I’m keeping it in mind if I do use navy. This top also comes in a terracotta color and yellow, which are both so pretty. I’ve been looking to add a pair of non-skinny white jeans to my Spring capsule wardrobe. I saw these High-Rise Straight Raw Hem Ankle Jeans (size 12) and tried them on. They fit really well, but I have been really wanting a demi boot crop style. I added the Denim Jacket and the Faux Leather Double Strap Slingback Sandals in the “mustard” colorto complete the look.

Next up I tried on this Crochet-Trim Slub-Knit Top in the “tamarind” color (size Large) and these High-Rise Raw-Edge Flare Ankle Jeans (size 12). The color of this top is a bright coral and these dark wash jeans are very on-trend this Spring. The crochet trim detail around the neckline of this top is so pretty. You could wear this top in a business casual outfit with a skirt or pants and add a blazer or cardigan.

I found these boyfriend jeans in the store but couldn’t find them online, but they are similar to these boyfriend distressed jeans (size 12) online. I tried them on with this Sleeveless Button-up Cocoon Top in the “yellow dot” color (size Large), which is a mustard yellow. The mustard color is pretty and I loved the banded round neckline. Would be cute top for Summer!

Yellow seems to be everywhere this Spring and this Yellow Button-Front Gingham Shirt (size Medium) is so pretty! It’s the same pattern of the dress in the photo above. I’m wearing it with these Mid Rise 5″ Denim Shorts (size 12). These shorts were so soft and fit perfectly.

This Ruffled Crochet Lace-Trim Flutter-Sleeve Blouse (size Large) is a great top for the Spring and Summer. The white one I tried on is a bit shear, but the yellow and black ones I saw in the store didn’t seem to be sheer. The yellow one is quite cute! These Mid-Rise Twill 5″ Everyday Shorts in the “blue gingham” color were just the right pattern for Summer! I love wearing the 5″ everyday shorts in the Summer. I have the white pair and the khaki pair and wore them a lot last Summer. I’ll be including them again in my 2019 Summer capsule wardrobe!
