Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 Try-On Session

Have you all been shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? Have you found some good stuff? Are you shopping for a few trends for your wardrobe or are you looking for just essentials?

I have to share with you all about our vacation last week at Port St. Joe, Florida! We were invited to stay at week at the Blue Skies Retreat, by Blue Skies Ministries? What is the Blue Skies Retreat? It is an all-expenses paid retreat for families of children with cancer. Most of you may know that my daughter has been battling brain tumors for over a year. The social worker at the Children’s Hospital told us about Blue Skies and that we may be interested in going. So, whether your child is currently going through cancer treatments or is in remission, it is a way for your family to get away to a relaxing vacation to Florida and connect with other families who are going through the same experiences with cancer. Last week while we were at the retreat, was one of the best vacations we have ever been on! We stayed in a condo with a spectacular view of the bay in Port St. Joe, Florida. It was great meeting other families and the volunteers and interns were so kind and helpful. The food was so good and we got to the beach twice last week! When we arrived at the retreat, we were all tired and stressed and when we left, we felt refreshed and relaxed! If your family or someone you know has a child with cancer, I highly recommend the Blue Skies Retreat for an enjoyable beach getaway.

Since the nearest Nordstrom is about 3 hours away, I ordered a few things in the sale. I love to shop at Nordstrom (I only wish we had a store closer to where we live)! I would say that about 75% of my clothes, shoes and accessories in my wardrobe come from Nordstrom. When I am looking to add a few trending items for the seasons to my capsule wardrobe, I see what they have first, as they always have on-trend items for the everyday woman.

Here is everything I ordered and tried on. If anything is sold out or has limited sizes, I apologize as I just received my packages at the end of last week, but keep checking back on Nordstrom’s site, as they restock items during the sale.

First, I tried on this Socialite Long Sleeve Thermal Henley Top (true to size, size Medium), this Argento Vivo Medallion Necklace in “gold” and these Steve Madden Feather Studded Loafer in “tan snake print” (true to size, size 9). I absolutely love the henley top and the snake print loafers! These loafers have been wildly popular in the sale and as soon as they are in stock they sell out. They are SUPER comfy and I love the neutral pattern on the shoe.

Next up, I tried on this BB Dakota Wade Drape Front Faux Suede Jacket in the dark brown. I’m wearing a Large and fits true to size. I like to wear a size Large in jackets to give room for wearing sweaters underneath. I really liked the tan color, but they didn’t have it in stock when I ordered this one. I have a jacket similar to this one that I bought in last year’s anniversary sale, so I’m returning this one. If I didn’t already have one, I would definitely keep this one.

I love this Halogen Wool & Cashmere Long Cardigan! Shop More Cardigans Here. The color is gorgeous and is a soft taupy brown. I tried on a Medium and it fits true to size. What like about this cardigan is that it is cashmere and is washable! I would recommend washing on the delicate cycle and laying flat to dry. I liked this BP. Lace Trim Satin Camisole Top in “ivory” and it fits true to size in a Medium. The lace detail is so feminine and adds a bit of texture to this satin cami. These Madewell Remi Genuine Calf Hair Mule in the “spotted leopard” (currently available in black and saddle) pattern are so cute and comfortable. If you don’t like the traditional leopard pattern, you may like these as they are a nice statement shoe with a minimal pattern. Shop More Mules & Slides Here.

I ordered this BP. Lace Trim Satin Camisole Top in “leopard”, although it’s not a style I would typically wear. I’m wearing the Medium, true to size. The leopard pattern is gorgeous and the black lace across the top is so pretty! Although it is showing these lace cami’s are sold out currently, Nordstrom will probably restock them soon. They sold out last year during the sale and Nordstrom restocked them soon afterward. So, keep checking back for availability. I absolutely love this Leith Longline Cardigan in the “beige oatmeal” color! I’m wearing a Medium as it runs bigger. This is my favorite cardigan in the sale and LOVE all 5 colors available: beige oatmeal, burgundy, green thyme, gray and pink adobe. Let’s talk about these Vince Camuto Nestel Knee High Boots in the “tortilla suede” color. I sized up to a 9.5 as they run small. I LOVE the color and heel height of these boots. Because I’m tall, I don’t like wearing heels over 2″, because I feel like my balance is off wearing a higher heel (I know that sounds weird). I wish these boots were a tad shorter though. I’m not really sure if I like the knee-high style and I’m on the fence about whether to keep these or return them. What do you think, keep or return them?

How pretty is this Treasure & Bond Leather Biker Jacket?! Shop More Leather Jackets Here. I’m wearing a size Large which fits great. It’s showing it is sold out, but check back as Nordstrom will hopefully restock soon. I really like the jacket except for the fold-down loops on the shoulder. I actually LOVE the moto look of this Chelsea 28 Leather Moto Jacket in the sale and may order this one! I really love this Caslon Rounded V-Neck Tee in the white/black stripe. There are several other colors in the sale too so you can stock up on your basic essential tees! I love the rounded v-neck and the size Medium fits true to size. These rag & bone Nina High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans fit perfectly and I love the high waist. I already have a pair of dark gray jeans or else I would keep these. And, I love these Caslon Evelyn Genuine Calf Hair Mules! They are so comfy and the leopard pattern is very pretty. If I wasn’t already keeping the Madewell Remi Genuine Calf Hair Mule in the “spotted leopard” (currently available in black and saddle), I would keep these.

Here I removed the leather jacket and I’m wearing just the Caslon Rounded V-Neck Tee and the rag & bone Nina High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans with the UGG Abies Perforated Slip-On Platform Sneaker in the blush color. I thought they were going to be more of a taupy color, so I’m undecided about these. I’m wearing my size 9 and they fit true to size.

This Madewell Faux Wrap Pullover Sweater in the “heather boysenberry” color is so soft ! I’m wearing a size Large, but should have ordered a Medium as it fits slightly big. I love the taupy-purple color and is perfect for the Fall, Winter and even Spring! I’m wearing it with the rag & bone Nina High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans and the Steve Madden Feather Studded Loafer in “tan snake print”.

Please excuse my daughter’s cat “Barty” as he photobombs the picture, ha! Barty is a Ragdoll cat and we got him in January for my daughter. She had been wanting a cat for a while, so she picked him out for a responsible breeder in south Alabama. He’s less than a year old but he’s a big cat and SO lovable! My daughter named him Bartholomew Sebastian Winston. We also have “Sophie” a shorthair cat that we adopted from a local shelter and “Ellie”, our Boston Terrier.

I’m wearing the BP. Lace Trim Satin Camisole Top in “black”. This one also fits true to size in the Medium. I already have a black cami so I’ll probably return this one. I’m also wearing the Madewell Summer Ryder Cardigan in the “heather ice” color and although I’m wearing the Medium it feels a bit big. I’ll probably send this one back. I don’t see a size small available right now but will keep checking. I’m also wearing the rag & bone Nina High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans and the Madewell Remi Genuine Calf Hair Mule in the “spotted leopard” (currently available in black and saddle).

I absolutely LOVE this 1.STATE Chiffon Inset Camisole in the “cloud” white color. I’m wearing a size Medium and it fits true to size. I expect Nordstrom will restock this cami, as it’s one they have been selling for a while. They also had it in black. I actually prefer this cami over the lace one above and it is lined, love the color and fits perfectly. This BP. Longline Open Cardigan in the “brown cattail” color is so pretty and fits true to size in the Medium. I like the mustard brown color and it would be perfect for the Fall season. It’s also available in black and red colors. Since the color doesn’t go the best with my complexion, I’m returning it, otherwise I would keep it. A favorite of mine in the sale is this Tory Burch Everly Leather Flap Saddle Bag in the “light umber” color. I’m not sure if they will restock this color, but they have it available in the black (also love this color) and blue colors.

Oh my goodness, there are SO MANY great cardigans in the sale, it’s hard to choose! This Madewell Ryder Cardigan in the “heather blossom” color is SO SOFT and I love the color. It runs a big big so I sized down to a Medium. This cardigan will be perfect to wear when I don’t feel like wearing a jacket as it’s 30% wool and will be warm. It’s available currently in the gray and maroon colors. I LOVE the gray color and would be a great neutral in your capsule wardrobe. I’m SO GLAD I ordered these Madewell 9-Inch Raw Hem Ankle Black Skinny Jeans! I hope they restock more sizes because they fit perfectly. They are a great wardrobe staple.

Another striped tee and cardigan? Yes! You all know must know my love for striped tees? And, cardigans too? I would consider this my “uniform”: a striped tee, cardigan, jeans and flats. I could honestly wear this type of outfit everyday! This BP. Stripe V-Neck Tee is SO GOOD, I look for it to be restocked soon. The material is not see through, the v-neck is the perfect scoop and the straight hem across falls just at my hips, a win-win-win for this tee! I’m wearing a Medium and it fits true to size. Keep checking to see if it comes back in stock, and if it does, grab it, especially since it’s under $12 in the sale! Although I’m keeping the Caslon Rounded V-Neck Tee above, I’m keeping this one too. Everything that Halogen makes, I love! This Halogen Open Front Pocket Cardigan in the “burgundy field” color fits perfectly and I love the length. I’m wearing a Medium and it fits true to size. It feels like a jersey-type material, which lays nicely over the tee I’m wearing. They have it 4 other colors too!

I tried on these Blondo Noreen Waterproof Knee High Boot in the “mushroom suede” color. I liked the style and comfort of these boots but am looking for more of a lighter shade for my wardrobe for the Fall. They are definitely worth buying and I like that they are waterproof!

Last year, I was needing a black vest for my capsule wardrobe, but didn’t buy one. This year I grabbed this The North Face ThermoBall PrimaLoft Vest in the black color. This is one of my favorite purchases from the sale! It’s a Medium and fits perfectly true to size. And, these Halogen Ivie Sneakers are adorable! It says they run small and to order up a half size, but I should have ordered a 10 as my toes are touching the front of the shoes. I’m going to send these back and not sure if I’m going to order another pair. I would really like a leopard slip-on style of sneaker!

I ordered this Free People Citrine Textured Cotton Blend Top in the “cedar” color. It’s a Medium and fits true to size. This top isn’t my style so I’ll probably send it back. It’s a beautiful top though and is well-made since it’s by the Free People brand.

I have 2 other Chelsea28 sweaters in my closet, so when I saw they had this Chelsea28 V-Neck Sweater in the sale, I had to try it. Like my other two sweaters, this one is soft too! I love the “brown shitake heather” color and I fits perfectly in the Medium. I’m not sure if I will keep it since I have 2 other Chelsea28 sweaters. Should I keep it or return it? I wish the calf on these Frye Carly Tall Boot caramel color would have been a bit bigger. They are my normal size 9. They were also a bit snug around the ankle to get on my foot, but once I got them on they fit well. I think the wide calf would have a better fit. Otherwise it’s a great boot, beautiful color of brown leather and the shaft height and heel height is perfect.

I had to order this Halogen V-Neck Cashmere Sweater in the “grey heather” am so glad I did! It fits perfectly in the size Medium and is oh so soft! It says is is hand washable. So I’ll be washing it on the delicate cycle in cold water and laying it flat to dry.
