Target Try-On Session

The temperatures have cooled off here in the South, so I thought I would start planning my Fall capsule wardrobe. I always like to include a few trending items for the current season, so when I was at Target yesterday, I checked out what Fall styles they had in the store. They had so many cute things and wanted to try all them on! So, what better way to get back in the swing of things here on Classy Yet Trendy as to do a try-on session.

I love wearing cardigans in cool weather and Target had several styles to choose from! They also had several tops that I loved, just wish they would have had more of my size so I could have tried them on.

For size reference, I am 5’9″ and am about 160 lbs. I wear either a size Medium in tops, a size 10 in jeans/pants and a size 9 in shoes.

If you read the blog, you know that I use a capsule wardrobe in my closet every season. I have been using a capsule wardrobe since 2015. In doing so, it has changed my entire approach to clothes. My buying habits have improved since using a capsule wardrobe that I think twice about everything I buy, thus keeping me out of debt! So, while I loved a lot of what I tried on at Target, I limit my spending and buy only what I absolutely love and will know what will work in my capsule wardrobe.

First up, I tried on this Burgundy Ruffle Top (size Medium), High-Rise Distressed Medium Wash Skinny Jeans (sized up to a 12) and Dekota Backless Slip On Mules (size 9). The Burgundy Ruffle Top was so pretty with the ruffles on the shoulders. The color was a darker burgundy. I wished the color was a bit lighter as darker colors tend to make my skin look washed out a bit, otherwise I would have bought it! The size 10 in these High-Rise Distressed Medium Wash Skinny Jeans was a bit tight, so I tried on the size 12, which were a tad bit loose on me. I liked the distressing on the knees and the color of the denim. They had some stretch so they would probably hold their shape all day. These Dekota Backless Slip On Mules were so comfy and almost bought them, but I already have a pair of Madewell cognac mules.

I found this Floral Print Long Sleeve V-Neck Peasant Top (size Medium) which is so pretty. The pattern looks fabulous in person! I wish the sleeves would have been a tad longer on me. They have a similar style but with longer sleeves online.

I saw this Jacquard V-Neck Rust Popover Blouse (size Medium) and loved the neckline, but it was a tad bit big on me. I also tried on these High-Rise Dark Wash Skinny Jeans. Unlike the distressed jeans above, these jeans fit in a size 10. I would have bought these jeans, but I already bought a pair of Good American Dark Wash Jeans from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

When I tried on this Open Neck French Terry Sweatshirt (size Medium) in the Ivory color, I thought, “Yep I’m getting this one!” It’s just the right length, which comes the tops of my thighs and is a soft terry material. I can wear it with jeans, pants and leggings.

I found this Crewneck Drapey T-Shirt in Burgundy (size Medium). I really liked the Gray color, but they didn’t have my size. They also have it in a pretty brown color too. What I like about it is the gathered shoulders and the fitted sleeves at the wrist. I may order this one in Gray online if I need it for my Fall capsule.

I saw this Wild Fable Women’s V-Neck Cozy T-Shirt (size Medium) in the Honey color and really liked the material. They also have it in gray. When I tried it on it seemed a bit loose, but looking online I think it’s designed to be a loose fit. I was hoping for a tighter fit.

I was on the fence about buying this Collared Sandwash Henley Shirt in the Olive color. I really liked it but wasn’t sure if I needed it in my Fall capsule wardrobe. So, I didn’t buy it. The fit was perfect and I loved the color. They also have it in black, blue and a dusty rose colors.

I couldn’t find this Striped Crewneck Sweatshirt in a Medium so I tried on the Large. It’s a tad bit big on me! A Medium probably would have fit perfectly. I really like this sweatshirt and will keep checking online to see when the Medium gets restocked.

I had to try on this Leopard Print Long Sleeve Graphic T-Shirt (size Medium) and show you all how cute it is! The material is so soft! If I didn’t already have this Leopard Print Sweatshirt I bought from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I would have bought this one. Same goes for this pair of Mid-Rise Knee Slit Olive Jeggings (size 10). I already have a pair similar to my DL1961 Olive Jeans that I’ve had for a couple of years. But, I highly recommend these Mid-Rise Knee Slit Olive Jeggings at Target. The fit is perfect and they have a bit of stretch to them making them so comfy!

How cute is this Fall Graphic T-Shirt? I bought it to wear underneath my cardigans and jacket in my Fall capsule wardrobe. It’s so cute I couldn’t resist buying it. I tried it on with the High-Rise Distressed Medium Wash Skinny Jeans and this pair of Wenda Cut Out Booties in the Taupe Suede color. These shoes are so comfy and I like the cut-out style.

I love this Cowl Neck With Side Lace-Up Detail Sweatshirt (size Medium) in the Blush color. They also have it in Gray. The lace-up detail on either size at the bottom adds a nice style to this tunic top. You can wear this top with jeans, pants and leggings.

This Chenille Open Cardigan (size Medium) in the “red” color is so soft! It’s not really a red, but more of a rusty mauve. It also comes in 4 other colors. I tried it on with this Long Sleeve Crewneck White T-Shirt, size Large since it’s a slim fit. I needed a new long sleeve white tee so I bought this one.

How cute is this Dolman Sleeve Sweater Poncho (one size)?! This is the “brown” color and it also comes in “navy”. You can wear almost any color top with it and it’s a great piece to wear casually or dress it up with pants or a skirt to wear to work.

When I saw this Plaid Tassel Poncho (one size), I immediately thought of everything Fall like wearing it to a bonfire and roasting marshmallows! It is so pretty! You could wear it casually with jeans and sneakers or booties or wear it to work with pants and heels.

So, which pieces did I buy? I bought the Open Neck French Terry Sweatshirt, Long Sleeve Crewneck White T-Shirt, Cowl Neck With Side Lace-Up Detail Sweatshirt and Fall Graphic T-Shirt. Although I didn’t buy them, I really liked the Dolman Sleeve Sweater Poncho, this peasant top and the Crewneck Drapey T-Shirt in the gray color.
