The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a huge amount of pre-season deals!  It’s also quite a long running sale, although you don’t want to wait as several items tend to sell out at the beginning of the sale.  If you’re not a cardholder and want to shop the best deals you can sign up for a card.  When you have the card, you can shop Early Access (which is now through July 19th).

Since I don’t live close to a Nordstrom, I have to order my items online then they are shipped to my home so I can try them on.  If I am ever on a vacation where I’ll be close to a Nordstrom, I always make a special trip there!  Nordstrom’s sizing is fairly accurate, as I am a medium and most of the time I order a medium.  The majority of their clothes run true to size and will say “True To Size” above the size selector.  If any of their items are not true to size, they will recommend sizing up or sizing down for the best fit.  So, sometimes I order two sizes making sure at least one will fit.

Although they have some gorgeous shoes in the sale, I didn’t order any, since I don’t need any.  Last year I bought a few pairs of shoes, so I don’t really need any this year.  I needed to add a couple of cardigans to my capsule wardrobe for the Fall and Winter and I found some gorgeous ones in the sale!  I was also looking to replace my Old Navy gray (DIY raw hem) jeans and found this skinny ankle pair that fit perfectly and is a beautiful shade of gray!

I saw this Marsden Leather Handbag in the Light Oak color and fell in love with the design, color and gold chain handles.  It’s even more gorgeous in person!  What I love about this bag is that you can use the shoulder strap as a shoulder bag, as a crossbody or you can just carry it by the handles.  It’s a more convenient bag that also makes a statement.  Right now you can save $176 during the sale!

Here’s what I ordered and tried on.  Find out what I kept or returned underneath each photo:

Remember: if anything is showing sold out in your size, keep checking back since Nordstrom may restock during the sale!

First up is this Ribbed Shawl Cocoon Cardigan Sweater in Tan Heather and The Farrah Ankle Skinny Jeans.  I love how this cardigan felt since it was SO soft.  The folddown collar adds a bit of interest and graduates down the front.  I like the cocoon shape on the hem because it looks so feminine.  I wore my normal size Medium.  I was going to keep this one, but I already have a beige cardigan for the cold months and a lightweight one I wear in the Spring.  I already have a pair of AG Jeans, but these Ankle Skinny Jeans were a bit darker than the pair I have.  They have tad bit higher waist which feels much more comfortable than my other pair.  Since AG is my favorite brand of jeans (tied with DL1961), I’m going to keep these since I know I’ll wear both pairs of my AG jeans this Fall and Winter.  I wore my other pair of AG Jeans so much during the Winter and Spring and I still love them!  I have to size up in AG since they run small.  I normally wear a size 10 in pants and 30 in jeans, but I have to size up to a 31 in the AG brand.  I tried on my Rounded V-Neck White Tee with the cardigan and jeans since it is part of the #NSale as well.  I love wearing this white tee underneath cardigans since it is lightweight and fits well.  As with any white tee, I always wear a nude color bra so it doesn’t show through.

Next up is the same cardigan in Pink Adobe.  I absolutely love the color!  It is a gorgeous shade of pink that you can wear nearly all year.  Some pinks are season-specific depending on their shade, but you can wear this one in the Fall with a tee, jeans and booties, in the Winter with a mockneck top, leggings and tall boots, then in the Spring with a shell, pants and pumps, for a few outfit ideas.  I’m wearing The Farrah Ankle Skinny Jeans as shown above.  I’m wearing my normal size Medium.

I ordered this Madewell Ryder Cardigan and love this one too!  I was looking to keep only one pink cardigan, but I’m keeping this one too since it has pockets and is more of a mauve tone of pink.  I was wanting this one at the end of the Winter season last year at Madewell, but didn’t order it.  I’m so glad it is part of the Nordstrom sale!  What I like about this cardigan other than the color is that it is more of a nice size cardigan and it has straight pockets.  This one is a thicker material, so it will work well in the Winter.  I’m wearing my normal size Medium.

The last cardigan I ordered was this BP. Stitch Curve Hem Cardigan in Grey Cloudy Heather.  This one is like the tan and pink one above, but this one has pockets.  This cardigan comes in 6 colors and I like the Beige Oatmeal and Brown Cattail colors as well.  I also really like the Green Botanical as it looks like a gorgeous teal jewel tone.  I’m keeping this cardigan since I don’t have a thicker gray one.  I’m wearing my normal size Medium.

I tried on this Caslon Dolman Sleeve Sweater and loved the color but the texture of the sweater is different.  It looks like chenille, but feels different.  It comes in 5 colors.  I returned this one.  I’m wearing my normal size Medium.  Now, these 7 For All Mankind Cutoff Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans are fabulous!  They are stretchy, which feels like butter when you are wearing them.  They are a beautiful shade of gray that will look great with nearly any top.  They have a cutoff hem which gives them a bit of an edgy look, without being trendy.  I’m keeping these since they fit perfectly!  I’m wearing my normal size 30.

I really like this Rails Hunter Plaid Shirt in Snow Navy Forrest, but am not sure if I want to keep it or return it!  What do you think?  Should I keep it or return it?  It’s buttery soft and the pattern is gorgeous.  The color says navy but it is more of a black color.  It has a tad bit of dark green running along the lines but you can hardly see it.  This shirt would go with so many things in my closet, but am just not sure about it.  I’ve kind of gotten away from wearing collared shirts, so that’s what is keeping me undecided about this one.  Nordstrom recommends sizing up in this shirt, so I’m wearing a Large.

7 For All Mankind Cutoff Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans (these fit like a glove!) Verdict: Kept 

 

Ok, I’m REALLY liking this Trouve Side Slit Sweater in Tan Burlwood!  The material on this one is SO soft and the color is just gorgeous!  I’m wearing my normal size medium.  It comes in 5 colors: black, teal, gray, red and this one.   I can wear this with jeans, pants, leggings or even tucked in a skirt.  This one is definitely capsule wardrobe worthy!  However, I’m not sure about these Caslon Crop Flare Jeans.  These jeans are so cute, but I’m afraid they will be too trendy to last more than a year.   If you like a variety of styles of jeans in your wardrobe and are not using a capsule wardrobe, then you will love these!  For me, I’m hooked on skinny jeans because they fit perfectly in a capsule wardrobe, have been in style for years and probably years to come.

I ordered this Frye Melissa Leather Hobo in the Dark Taupe color but am not sure I will keep it.  I ordered the Tory Burch bag and this one and I love the Tory Burch one more.  If you order the Frye bag, you will probably love it since the color is exactly like the photo on Nordstrom, which is a soft brown.  It will coordinate nicely with your outfits!

I bought two beauty items: Bobbi Brown Deluxe Eye & Cheek Set ($380 value for only $98) and Charlotte Tilbury The Pretty Pink Lipstick Set ($90 for only $60).  I look forward to using these!  Their beauty & gift sets are always worth buying during the Anniversary Sale.  Last year I bought this Kiehl’s Jumbo Creme de Corps Bottle and am still using it!  I absolutely love using this lotion as it leaves my skin so soft and is unscented so I can wear my perfumes.

I’m going to be ordered a few things for my home, like this SERENE HOUSE Supernova Electric Aromatherapy Diffuser and this Pom Pom at Home Morgan Throw.
