This is a fashion saver as it combines comfort and style, all in one. You can literally pair a denim jacket with anything under the sun, from a dress to your white tee & pants combo. If you are looking to add a denim jacket to your wardrobe, choose one that is a medium denim wash, not too light and not too dark. The medium wash will coordinate nicely with all color tones.

Utility jackets, particular in the olive green color, have been popular for a few years and I don’t see them going out of style anytime soon. Why? They are a lightweight jacket that provides comfort, style and texture to complete your outfits. It’s casual enough to wear with jeans and a tee, but wear it over a simple black or navy dress and it instantly provides color and style.

Leather jackets have been around for years and they are considered a classic wardrobe staple. The most popular color of leather jacket is black, although brown is a popular color too. You can also find them in a muted pink, gray and a few other colors. You can choose between real leather or faux leather. Real leather will tend to last longer and can be professionally cleaned between seasons to make it last. When you are choosing a leather jacket, I suggest a style that is simple, so that it will coordinate with several outfits and will stay in style for several years.

Cardigans are a favorite layering essential! Throw one of these over a shirt, tee or blouse and it instantly provides texture and color to your outfits. They are cozy warm and provides just enough warmth, so you can easily wear one of these rather than wearing on a jacket. Cardigans can be worn casual with jeans or you can wear them to work with your skirts and pants. Beige and gray are the most versatile and neutral colors to coordinate with other clothes in your wardrobe, but feel free to add other cardigan colors to your wardrobe too!

great advice Thank You
I love your ideas and have bought several capsules over the last two years. However, some of the items are not reasonable to wear in the Carolinas due to the excessive heat. Would you consider a warm climate option or even warm climate capsules? That would be wonderful and help me out tremendously. I’m sure there are many others out there that think the same. Thanks!
I have a few jackets inmy wardrobe, I wear them often at this time of year #inspirememonday@_katendennix
Marsha,
Thank you for your comment and request. While I would like to create capsule wardrobes for specific regions (warm / cool climates), there is not enough hours in the day! You can substitute items in the capsule wardrobe for warm climates, like instead of a long sleeve tee, use a short sleeve tee in the same color. For pieces that are more specific (i.e. olive utility jacket), you could substitute an olive vest, or substitute another top in the same olive color.
Great suggestions for items that will be worn a lot! I checked out the utility jacket at Target today and it looked great. I would suggest to wash clothes from the cheaper places like Target and Old Navy carefully. They are OK quality but you will get more wear out of them if you wash in cold and hang dry. Of course this is true for a lot of my clothes.
These are all great ideas! I have all of these except a leather jacket, but I literally wear all my jackets all the time, my utility jacket is definitely my favorite staple in my wardrobe!
