Try-On Session: Amazon, Madewell & Nordstrom

I’m doing another try-on session! Since the temperatures have cooled down, I’ve been preparing my Fall capsule wardrobe. I had never shopped online for clothes at Amazon, so I thought I would order a few pieces and try them on. After reading great reviews on these Carina Chelsea Boots, I also ordered these in the “English Saddle” color. They fit perfectly and are so comfortable (see try-on below)! They also come in “black” and “dark cabernet”, a burgundy color. I also fell in love with this Tie-Neck Peasant Top in Ginger Floral (also at Nordstrom) and ordered it (see try-on below). Last year, I regretted not getting these Steve Madden Feather-L Leopard Flats (see try-on below), so I finally bought a pair! No wonder these are so popular, they are SO comfortable, feels like I’m wearing slippers!

For size reference, I am 5’9″ and am about 160 lbs. I normally wear a size Medium in tops, a size 10 in jeans/pants, size Large in leggings and a size 9 in shoes. I found that the sizes of the brands on Amazon fit differently. While the Medium in the Daily Ritual brand fits perfect, the Medium in the Core10 runs smaller, so I would probably size up the Core10 brand. The Amazon Essentials brand seems to run true to size, but on the fitted tops (like all brands) I needed to size up one size.

If you read the blog, you know that I use a capsule wardrobe in my closet every season. I have been using a capsule wardrobe since 2015. In doing so, it has changed my entire approach to clothes. My buying habits have improved since using a capsule wardrobe that I think twice about everything I buy, thus keeping me out of debt! So, while I loved a lot of what I tried on at Target, I limit my spending and buy only what I absolutely love and will know what will work in my capsule wardrobe.

First up, I tried on this Daily Ritual Supersoft Terry Long-Sleeve Hooded Pullover (size Medium) in the “heather gray spacedye” and Core 10 Spectrum Yoga High Waist 7/8 Crop Legging (size Large) in the “dark gray heather”. Both of these fit perfectly! I love the quality and design of the material on the hooded pullover and it covers the behind well. I didn’t have a dark gray pair of leggings and was pleased how well these fit! I personally love crop leggings (sometimes regular length leggings are too long on me).

I was so excited to see how well this Core 10 Thermal Fitted Run Hoodie (size Medium, I needed to size up to a Large) in “merlot heather” was made, especially with the darker burgundy banding accents along the neckline, across the bottom and on the wrists. I ordered this hoodie in a Medium, but I should have ordered a Large, because it was too small. The merlot heather is so pretty and you could wear this hoodie either with jeans or leggings as athleisure or you can wear it on your morning runs in cool weather. I tried it on with the Core 10 Spectrum Yoga High Waist 7/8 Crop Legging (size Large) in “dark gray heather”. I’m wearing my Odyssey React 2 Flyknit Running Shoe (I love these, so comfy!)

Next up, I tried on this Amazon Essentials Classic-Fit Long-Sleeve Crewneck T-Shirt (size Medium) in “white” along with the Core 10 Spectrum Yoga High Waist 7/8 Crop Legging (size Large) in “dark gray heather” and my Odyssey React 2 Flyknit Running Shoe. I already bought this Long Sleeve Crewneck White T-Shirt at Target last week, so I didn’t keep the one from Amazon. I would have sized up to a Large since it is a slim fit. There are a ton of colors available at Amazon!

I have been needing a gray zip hoodie, so I ordered this Amazon Essentials Women’s French Terry Fleece Full-Zip Hoodie (size Medium) in “light gray heather”. It fit so well and the material is comfy soft, so I kept it!

I was amazed at the quality of this Amazon Essentials Slim-Fit 3/4 Sleeve Boatneck T-Shirt (size Medium) in “light gray heather stripe”! It reminded me of a top you would find at Nordstrom or J. Crew, but a fraction of the price, under $16! Plus, it is in 13 colors to choose from! It fit a bit snug on me, since it is a slim fit, so size up! I really love this top and would love to have it, so if I order a replacement, I’ll order a Large. I’m wearing my AG Farrah Skinny High Waist Jeans and my Tory Burch Women’s Minnie Travel Ballet Flats in “perfect black”.

This Amazon Essentials Short-Sleeve V-Neck Tunic (size Medium) in the “large tile grey heather” fit perfectly! I skipped on this one because I didn’t quite like the pattern for my Fall capsule, but it comes in a ton of other colors. The length is just right, with a shirttail hem, so you can wear it jeans, pants or leggings.

If you like wearing a cardigan, but also need to wear a jacket, get this Hooded Knit Cardigan Button Cable Sweater Coat in “N-beige”. It’s lined and so warm! Plus, it has faux fur around the hood.

Nordstrom & Madewell

Oh my gosh, I’m in love with this Treasure & Bond Plaid Boyfriend Shirt in the “Ivory-Blue” color. Blue is one of my colors I picked for my Fall capsule wardrobe and this fits in my capsule perfectly. Sometimes plaid shirts don’t look good on me because of the pattern colors, but this blue looks great in person. This shirt is available in 5 colors and they are all pretty! I’ve been looking to replace my current cognac booties and had read great reviews on this pair of Carina Booties in the “English Saddle” color. They have a 1 1/2″ heel, which I love! Since I’m tall, it’s hard for me to walk in high heeled boots. They don’t rub on my heel when I walk (I always wear socks with boots). I’m definitely keeping these booties!

Since I’m including Ginger/Rust in my Fall capsule wardrobe, I saw this Madewell Tie-Neck Peasant Top in Ginger Floral (size Medium) and had to order it. I love the ruffles around the sleeves and neck and the floral pattern is so pretty.
