September Try-On Reviews: Madewell, J.Crew, Loft, Nisolo

I received the Nisolo Everyday Chelsea Boots as a gifted item from Nisolo. As always, all opinions are my own.

I have been planning my own Fall capsule wardrobe in between publishing the Fall Season capsule wardrobes. First, I shopped my closet for foundation pieces to include in my capsule, but there have been a few pieces I wanted to order and try on to see if they would fit in my capsule.

While I was trying on what I ordered, I snapped some photos for you all to see how they fit!

For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh approximately 165 lbs. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (slim fit I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 10 OR a 30/31 waist, a 10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam falls right at my ankle. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.

When I saw this Madewell Conway Striped Sweater (size Medium) online, I had to order it and try it on! Since it is a “relaxed” fit, I think I should have sized down to a Small. I ordered a size Small and it is on its way. I shop online about 95% of the time, so I be sure to notice the sizing and material makeup before I order. If anything says “Relaxed” or “Oversized”, I usually will size down, but since I wear either a Medium or Large in Madewell items, I went with a Medium. I’m hoping the Small on the way will be slightly more fitted. It’s a beautiful sweater and is very comfy being that it is all cotton.

These High-Rise Perfect Vintage Jean in Tile White (size 30) are lovely jeans! They have an 11″ rise, which is a bit higher that I usually wear, but the straight style is flattering and comfy. They are a mix of 98% cotton and 2% elastane which gives them a bit of stretch. I’m on the fence about keeping these because of the rise; what do you think?

I added my Sam Edelman Linnie Bit Mules in the “Saddle” color (size 9). I bought these last year and enjoyed wearing them very much! They are comfortable to walk in all day and are comfy right out of the box! The Lorraine Loafers are very comfortable also.

I tried on this J. Crew Factory Chambray Shirt (size Large) and the color is lovely! This has been a classic piece offered year after year at J. Crew Factory. It has a great price point and fits really well, better than the current one at J. Crew! I styled the shirt half tucked in and half untucked so you could see how you could wear it both ways.

I tried on the chambray shirt with these High-Rise Perfect Vintage Jean in Tile White (size 30) are lovely jeans! Button-down cardigans are on-trend again this year! I found this Boyfriend Cardigan in the “whisper white” color (size Medium) and it is so soft! The top button is just high enough so you can wear the cardigan buttoned-up as a sweater or leave it unbuttoned and open over a top. It falls at the hips so it provides enough length, so it is not cropped or too long.

I have been carrying my Portland Leather Goods bags non-stop for several weeks and am LOVING them! Ya’ll, these bags are like Madewell-style bags but the leather quality is so much better and the bags smell divine! They have several styles of bags, wallets, shoes and much more. This is the Classic Medium Zipped Tote in the “honey” color, shown in the photo below. They have four sizes of this tote in many colors and it also comes in a snap closure.

I saw this Pocket Tunic Shirt (size Medium) and ordered it with the boyfriend cardigan shown above. A blue button-down shirt is a wardrobe staple and this shirt is lovely! It is a medium blue color and since it is an oxford material, it will be thicker than other button-down shirts to wear in the Fall and Winter. Sorry for the winkles, I took the shirt right out of the bag and tried it on!

I’m also wearing my Madewell Cali Crop Flare Jeans (size 30) that I already had in my closet. These jeans will be in my own Fall capsule wardrobe. Crop Flare Jeans look great since they are slim in the leg but flare out slightly at the hem giving them a feminine style. These jeans have a 10.5″ waist rise, a 27″ inseam and are a blend of 99% cotton and 1% spandex so they are stretchy and move with you.

A crewneck sweater in a neutral color is a wardrobe staple and will go with so many pieces in your closet. I have been wanting to invest in a gray cashmere sweater and bought this J. Crew Cashmere Classic Fit Sweater (size Large) in the “hthr ash” color. The sweater has a band on the hem and on the sleeves, but the hem is not tight at all and is loose. It is a quality cashmere, is very soft and it is WASHABLE! Since it is cashmere, I’m going to hand wash it and use some of my The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Sweater Shampoo and lay flat to dry on my Folding Sweater Mesh Drying Rack. I have two of these drying racks and they are stackable!
