10 Ways To Wear A Camel Wool Coat
A wool coat is a classic wardrobe essential for the cold months. Depending on the weather in your area, you can start wearing a wool coat as soon as the climate turns chilly in the fall, all the way up to the spring season. Wool is extremely durable, resistant to tearing, and breathable.
Wool coats look great with both dressy and casual outfits, which makes them a versatile piece to have in your closet. It is a much warmer alternative to cotton, and good quality wool makes a great coat for use in cold climates. Wool coats come in an array of fabric mixes, from an all-wool coat to a wool-blend, which is a mix of wool and other material(s).
What Style Is a Wool Coat?
Wool coats are a simple style coat with a minimal design. Wool coats generally button up and have two to four pockets, but they can also have a simple tie belt closure. They also have an oversized collar that is either worn up or folded down, creating a wide neck opening that is perfect for displaying your favorite scarf. Wool coats come in different lengths and which one you choose depends on your wardrobe needs. There is the shortest length, which comes to your hips, called a peacoat. This style looks great with casual outfits. There are mid-thigh, which is an overall good length to wear with your casual and dressy outfits. Long length wool coats work well in cold winters keeping the wind off your legs and also look great with dresses.

How I Style My Own Camel Coat
My camel wool coat is from Zara last year. It is a very similar style to the camel coat in this post. Here are a couple of ways I wear my coat:
Substitution Notes
Sub Camel With Gray – In this post, we are styling this camel color wool coat from Abercrombie & Fitch. You can use a cool color gray wool coat like this one instead! I have this exact gray wool coat in my own closet and love wearing it!
Sub Black With Navy Blue – These outfits use black pieces. You can certainly substitute navy blue instead of black if navy suits your coloring better! If you will using navy blue, I recommend a shade of brown, like saddle, tan or taupe color boots, pumps and bags with the outfits instead of the black ones.

Could you do a post for those of us who live in warmer areas? I’m in Dallas, and “cold” here means a high in the 50s. I’m warm natured, so the odds of me needing to style a coat are pretty slim.
I’m in East Texas but run cold so I am all about the wool. Kelly, I would just sub a long cardigan or a lighter weight coat.
Thanks for another great post, Leanne. I just ordered the plaid scarf, and it was on clearance for 14.97! Now to shop for that wool coat. 🙂
Loved the graphic at the end of the post with the coat in the middle and arrows to each outfit! Over 50 years ago, I stitched a gorgeous Vogue-inspired camel coat for my ‘going away’ outfit! Camel wool coat? CLASSIC
