Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2021 Try-On Session

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale #NSale is going on now! Several things I ordered last week arrived on Saturday, so I tried on everything, took photos and am sharing them here on the blog for you all to see how they fit.

What Is The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is considered the most important sale of the year. While Nordstrom holds half-yearly sales throughout the year, this sale has become legendary among Nordstrom customers who enjoy outstanding savings on the most exciting new fall and winter merchandise. There’s also summer merchandise on sale too at deep discounts!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is when I buy my core closet essentials that I use in my capsule wardrobes! Essentials like tees, jeans, sweaters, cardigans and shoes. If there are any clothes or shoes in my wardrobe that need replacing, the sale is the perfect opportunity to buy quality-made items at lower prices.

When Is The Anniversary Sale?

Early Access to the sale began on July 12 and as of July 16 all card holders can now shop! On July 28, the sale opens to the public.

The Try-On Session

I had a HUGE order that was supposed to arrive Friday, but FedEx didn’t deliver my order until Saturday. I live several hours away from both Nordstrom stores (one in Atlanta and one in Nashville) and it is difficult for me to shop in the store since they are far away, so I had to order everything online. I tried on everything I received yesterday and created a few outfits for you all to see how to mix and match items in the sale!

First, I wanted to mention if anything is not available in your size or is showing “sold out”, keep checking back because in past anniversary sales, I have seen Nordstrom restock items. It is not guaranteed for every item, but they will restock some items either by replenishing stock or restocking customer returns.

For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh 160 lbs. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (slim fit I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 10. My shoe size is 9.

I hung everything on my clothes rack to get ready for the try-on. You may notice the mostly everything is neutral colors and that’s because I LOVE neutrals. Don’t get me wrong, I love to wear colors, but I myself prefer more neutrals especially in the Fall and Winter seasons, but that’s just me. In this post, I will be trying on a cardigan from the sale two years ago that is included in the sale, that is a burgundy color. Here is a closeup of the shoes: the Vince Camuto Leminda Booties in the “sandy brown” color, the Jenni Kayne Mules in the “espresso” color and the Steve Madden Finn Chain Mules in the “tan suede” color.

The first outfit I tried on is this Treasure & Bond V-Neck sweater (size Medium), these Kut From The Kloth Ankle Skinny Jeans (size 10) and the Jenni Kayne Mules (size 9). This sweater reminds me a lot of the Chelsea28 sweater I bought in last year’s sale that I wore SO much last year! This Treasure & Bond V-Neck sweater is so soft and you can wear it untucked with leggings or do a front tuck like I did below to wear with jeans. It’s sale price is $39.90, which is a steal for this quality-made sweater. You can also wear this sweater to work with a pair of pants. Ok, I STILL LOVE skinny jeans and I think I always will! Skinny jeans and slim straight jeans look better on my body frame than regular straight jeans. I have wide hips, so skinny and slim straight jeans even out my proportions. These Kut From The Kloth Ankle Skinny Jeans are on sale for $58.90 and they are definitely worth buying in the sale! I LOVE the denim wash on these and they fit true to size. They have some stretch to them and I think they would hold their shape all day. Ok, these Jenni Kayne Mules are a bit pricey, but everything about the Jenni Kayne brand is dreamy! These shoes are very comfortable and I like how they fit. I bought a size 9, but my heel sits right at the edge of the shoe, so you may want to size up. I have been eyeing these Jenni Kayne Cheetah Print Mules and they have been around for a couple of years. I have just about convinced myself to go ahead and order the Cheetah Print Mules since I love the pattern so much and they will go with so many outfits in my closet.

Ok, I absolutely love the style, fit, color and softness of this Caslon Cowl Neck Top (size Medium)! It is showing sold out, but hopefully they will restock it soon. I really like the gold chain detail on these Steve Madden Finn Chain Mules (size 9). These shoes fit true to size and are comfy! This Wool Felt Hat is showing sold out (ugh!), but hope Nordstrom restocks this one because the color and style is so pretty. This is the “camel light” color. I’m also wearing the Kut From The Kloth Ankle Skinny Jeans (size 10).

Oh, I absolutely love this Barefoot Dreams CozyChic cardigan (size Medium)! This is the “tan” color and is a good neutral color. My favorite color of cardigan is a beige color since it goes with so many things in your closet. You can wear this cardigan over your loungewear as a layer and since it’s an open style cardigan, you can also wear it out in your outfits. My white v-neck tee isn’t part of the sale, but it’s in my Summer 2021 capsule wardrobe and is only $8 from Target. I bought this Tory Burch Carson Convertible Bag in last year’s sale and I’m so glad they brought it back in this year’s sale! I have it in the black color and it also comes in a gorgeous sand color and also a green color. It’s just the right size and it instantly dresses up a casual outfit. It has a Chanel Classic Flap style, but for a fraction of the price. My favorite kinds of bags are ones that you can carry different ways. You can drape this bag over your shoulder, put it across your shoulder as a crossbody, drape it over your arm like below or carry it with your hand. I can fit my wallet, key holder, phone, face mask and lip gloss in it. I love these Vince Camuto Leminda Booties in the “sandy brown” color (size 9)! They fit true to size and I really like the warm brown color. I like the 1 1/2″ heel, so you get the look of a heeled bootie but they are easy to walk around in! I already have a taupe color pair of booties in my closet and not sure if I need to pairs, but I’m REALLY loving these Vince Camuto Leminda Booties. I’m also wearing the Kut From The Kloth Ankle Skinny Jeans (size 10).

The “cream” color of this Vince Crewneck Wool & Cashmere Sweater (size Medium) is so light and pretty. It’s a great neutral color and will go with so many things in your closet. I’m not sure if I will need the warmness of wool since we have mild winters where I live, but if you have cold winters, this just might be your sweater. What’s great about this sweater is that it is WASHABLE and has the softness of cashmere! These Kut From The Kloth High Waist Relaxed Skinny Jeans (size 10) fit more like straight style jeans and they are comfortable. The dark denim wash goes great with your lighter tops. They fit true to size. And, I’m wearing the Steve Madden Finn Chain Mules (size 9).

My Long Sleeve Model Tee (size Medium) is included in the sale, but my stripes pattern is from last year. They have other colors and a different striped pattern to choose from. I love the gray color on this Treasure & Bond V-Neck Sweater (size Medium). The ribbing on the sleeves around the hem of the sweater gives it texture and the v-neck style balances out my body shape. I really enjoy wearing v-neck tops and sweaters and this sweater is top notch! I hope they restock the gray and it also comes in two other colors. Wit & Wisdom is one of my MOST favorite denim brands and I’m so glad to see Nordstrom has several pairs included in the sale! The jeans I’m wearing below is the Wit & Wisdom Ankle Skinny Jeans (size 10) and they have a dark wash. They fit true to size. I already have a pair similar to these and I highly recommend them! One of my favorite Nordstrom brands is Halogen and I love this Balloon Sleeve Sweater in the “tan cobblestone heather” color (size Medium). This sweater was one of the first items I put in my Wishlist when I was going through the sale preview a couple of weeks ago. I was a bit concerned about the sleeves being “balloon” BUT they are not big, but instead have a nice drape to them. I really like the v-neck, shaker stitch style. I’m also wearing the Wit & Wisdom Ankle Skinny Jeans (size 10) and the Steve Madden Finn Chain Mules (size 9).

I paired the Balloon Sleeve Sweater in the “tan cobblestone heather” color (size Medium) that I tried on above with the AG Ex-Boyfriend Slim Jeans (size 31). These jeans are SUPER SOFT and fit great. With AG jeans, I always have to size up to a 31 (I normally wear a 30) since they run small on me. I really like the denim wash on these jeans. They came rolled up in the package and I left them that way for a fun casual look but the hem rolls down for an ankle length. I’m also wearing the Jenni Kayne Mules in the “espresso” color (size 9).

I really like the style, fit and color of this Caslon Open Front Cardigan (size Medium) in the “gray heather” color. It comes in 6 colors to choose from! The ribbing detail on the ends of the sleeves and around the hem as well as the pockets adds texture to this cardigan. This cardigan will be SO cozy in the Fall and Winter! I styled this Caslon Open Front Cardigan (size Medium) in the “gray heather” color that I tried on above with these AG Mari High Waist Slim Straight Jeans (size 31). I hope they come back in stock because these are GREAT jeans! They have some stretch to them and fit perfectly. This leather jacket is SO soft and dreamy! While I like leather jackets, most of them I see have an edgy-vibe to them that I don’t feel comfortable wearing them. The hardware on this Caslon Leather Moto Jacket with Removable Hood (size Large in the “black” color) is subtle, which I like. I also like that you can remove the hood so you have a regular style leather jacket. I was really hoping this Ted Baker London Ribbed Pullover fit better. I bought the size 4 (12 US), but I should have sized up. The color is so pretty on this top and I like the minimal mock neck style. It goes really well with the leather jacket, jeans, boots hat. I’m wearing the AG Mari High Waist Slim Straight Jeans (size 31) I tried on above and the Vince Camuto Leminda Booties in the “sandy brown” color (size 9).

This Halogen Open Front Pocket Cardigan (size Medium) that I bought in the 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which is the same style in this year’s sale. My cardigan below is a berry color and this year’s red color is a burgundy color. This is one my most favorite cardigan styles from Nordstrom and I highly recommend it to make you look tall and slender. This cardigan comes in several colors to choose from! My gray short sleeve tee (size Large) isn’t in the sale, but Nordstrom sells it and I love the way it fits (I have it in my neutral Summer capsule wardrobe). It is a model/cotton blend so it’s soft, has some stretch to it and it drapes well. I’m also wearing the AG Mari High Waist Slim Straight Jeans (size 31) and the Vince Camuto Leminda Booties in the “sandy brown” color (size 9).

Loungewear & Athleisure

I bought a few pieces to try on including another one of my favorite bras, the True & Co. Convertible Strap Bralette (size Large) in the “dulce” color. This bra is my MOST FAVORITE bra EVER! I highly recommend it. I replaced ALL of my bras with these last year and am so glad I did! I now have 3 nude colors of these True & Co. bras and I have a few of the Calvin Klein bralettes (size Large) that I bought from Amazon, which fit identical. These style of bras have no wires, no hooks and the padding is removable. Once you wear these bralettes, you won’t go back to traditional bras!

Nordstrom always includes comfy loungewear in their Anniversary Sales. I bought this BP. Comfy Top (size Medium) and these Comfy Joggers (size Medium), both in the “tan stucco” color. These are SO soft and I can’t wait to wear these on the weekends when I lounge around the house and watch Netflix or Amazon Prime shows and movies.

Oh, these Moonlight Pajamas (size Medium” in the “gray heather” color are SO SOFT! The contrast piping that outlines the edges provides detail to the pj’s. They come in several colors, including a leopard pattern that looks so fun! They also have these pajamas in a short sleeve & shorts version which are so pretty too!

This Alo Soho Pullover (size Medium) in the “shadow gray” color is lighter than a sweatshirt and has a similar style, but a longer length. I ordered the shadow gray color, which actually looks a bit more of a dark taupe color in person, but I do like the color! It is soft and cozy and would be great to wear on the weekends! I have it styled here with my Zella High Waist 7/8 Pocket Leggings (size Large) in the “black” color. I have had these leggings for about 3 years now and still love wearing them! I’m wearing black sneakers from my closet, but I really like these React Phantom Run Flyknit Sneakers included in the sale!

I’ve got to decide which items to keep and which ones to return from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but I’ve got to wait until my other things come in before I know what I’ll be keeping and returning.
