10 Ways To Wear A White Tee

A white tee is a wardrobe essential and you can wear it several seasons every year. A white tee is a classic and timeless basic and can be worn in so many outfit combinations.

You can pair a white tee with mostly anything, with jeans, pants, skirts or shorts. You can wear a white tee casually with jeans and loafers, in an athleisure outfit with joggers and sneakers or dress it up with a skirt and pumps!

Which Style & Material Is Best?

I have worn many brands and fits of white tees since I have been a fashion blogger, so I know what to look for when buying a white tee!

Fit: To wear a white tee casual as well as dressy, look for a fit that is slim, but not tight. You want the tee to look fitted and not frumpy. You want the area around the hemline to be somewhat loose so you can do a front tuck or leave it untucked.

Hem: Straight hem or curved hem? If you will be wearing your tee either casual or dressy, you will want white tee. If you will be wearing your tee mostly with athleisure, a curved hem tee looks great with athletic shorts and joggers.

Material: A white tee is typically made of cotton fabric, but they can also be a cotton/other fabric combo, like this one from J. Crew (I have this one and love it!) which will drape and fit beautifully. The type of material is up to you, some like all-cotton, while others like a cotton/other material combo.

Neckline: There are several types of neckline styles out there: crewneck, v-neck, curved and scoopneck, which do you choose? A crewneck is an overall great style of tee, especially if you will be wearing it to work with your blazers and cardigans. A v-neck, curved and scoopneck all elongate your body frame, so you may want to have one of those in your closet.

Because you can wear a white tee with so many things in your closet, black or gray color tees are also great additions to have in your closet for more outfit combinations. Overall, a white tee is a closet staple that will never go out of style, whatever season you wear it.

How to Care For A White Tee

Check the label in your tee for any specific care instructions. Otherwise, here is a recommended way of caring for a cotton-blend tee: Wash it in the washing machine on cold temperature to prevent shrinkage.  Add a bit of liquid fabric softener in the washer so your tee will be soft. Hang it to dry (iron if needed). Avoid drying your tee in the dryer, as it may shrink and the heat from the dryer will damage the fibers in the material.
