Try-On Session Reviews: Loft (Part 2), Amazon, ABLE
For a couple of weeks, I have been planning my Spring capsule wardrobe. I went to Loft a couple of weeks ago and tried on several of their new arrivals and shared them in this post, “Try-On Session Reviews: Loft“. Earlier this week, I shared everything in my J. I will be using a Navy base color for my Spring capsule wardrobe, so I needed to fill some missing gaps in my wardrobe and find some navy pieces. For several seasons, I have used Black as my base color and mostly all neutral colors, but am excited to be using Navy this Spring, along with blue and green as accent colors!
I found a few more pieces online from Loft, so I ordered those to try on. My order arrived along with a few pieces I ordered from Amazon Try Before You Buy and ABLE’s Merly Jacket in the new “Clean Wash”!

When I am planning my next season capsule wardrobe and need to fill in the gaps with a few trending pieces, I like to try-on a few clothes and shoes from my favorite stores and share what I find with you all, since you all like the try-on sessions posts!
The Spring 2022 Capsule Wardrobe Collections

Let’s get started with the try-on session reviews…
For size reference, I am 5’9″ in height and have an hourglass body shape. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium, but size up to a Large sometimes, depending on the brand and style of the top. For bottoms, my normal size is a size 10 / 30 waist. My shoe size is a 9 medium width. For outerwear, I wear mostly a size Large, but if it is an oversized style I will size down to a Medium.
The first pieces I tried on, I just loved! Peasant style tops are trending for the Spring 2022 season and I am so thrilled! I love the feminine style of a peasant top with the flowiness of the fabric, lovely pattern and pretty neckline. I love subtle navy floral pattern on this Garden Shirred Henley Blouse (size Medium)! I’m also wearing these Stretch Twill Pants in the “dazzling olive” color (size 10). I love the green color tone of these pants! Sizes are limited, but they are also available in the Curvy style, which is more of a tapered waist.
Loft has a few other pairs of green pants, like these Monroe Slim Pants in the “soft moss” color and these gorgeous Slim Taper Pants in the “kelly green” color with removable belt!
ABLE has recently added a new denim wash to their popular Merly jacket, the “clean wash” (size Large). If you don’t know about ABLE, it is a women-run ethical brand, moving fashion forward through purchases that create opportunity and a devotion to real transparency. They have apparel, leather goods, shoes, home, jewelry and more to empower women in their everyday lives.
I have ABLE’s classic “original wash” denim jacket, but it doesn’t quite go with my “classic and elevated” personal style. While I do love their “original wash” denim jacket, it has lots of distressing and is a lighter shade. I contacted ABLE a few months a go and requested that they make the Merly denim jacket with no distressing and more of a medium denim wash, and I was pleasantly surprised when they added this “clean wash” style to their Merly denim jacket lineup a few weeks later! ABLE nailed it with this Merly denim jacket and it is my most favorite denim jacket EVER! It is SO SOFT and moves with you (unlike most denim jackets out there). The reason why it is softer than most denim jackets it is a Cotton/Lyocell mix. The Lyocell adds softness to the cotton. I also love the tapered silouette of this jacket. It looks more feminine than your average denim jacket and it is slightly longer, which looks great with pants and skirts! ABLE recommends sizing up on this jacket, so I ordered a Large and it fits perfectly!

Transform Your Closet

Oh, I am loving this Shirred White Henley Blouse (size Medium)! It has a feminine yoke neckline, 3/4 blouson sleeves and is all cotton, so the material is breathable. When I saw this gorgeous blue top, I just had to order it and try it on! It is the Floral Tie Neck Puff Sleeve Top (size Medium) in the “high seas” color. You can tie the neck or leave it untied. Even though it has puff sleeves, you can easily add a layer over it like this V-Neck Cardigan (size Medium) in the “whisper white” color, which is an ivory color and can coordinate with so many tops! You can wear the cardigan by itself buttoned up or wear it as a layer like how I styled it below.
I love these Monroe Slim Chino Pants in the “seaside sand” color, but even though I ordered my normal size 10, they are a bit big in the waist and the hips. The khaki tan color is so pretty on these pants! Being that they are a more of a straight style pant with a slim taper, the 26.5″ inseam falls just above my ankles so they look pretty with flats and you could also wear these to work with pumps. I ordered a size 8 and will try the smaller size when they arrive. You may want to size down in these pants.

Here are the Floral Tie Neck Puff Sleeve Top (size Medium) in the “high seas” color and the Monroe Slim Chino Pants in the “seaside sand” color (size down) without the cardigan. I think the pants in a size 8 would fit me much better, so you may want to size down in the pants.

If you are wanting a blouse to wear to work for the Spring season, add this Bouquet Ruffle Mixed Media Blouse (size Medium) to your wardrobe! The photo doesn’t do the top justice, as the pattern is beautiful and I LOVE the ruffle detail on the neckline! Since it is a “mixed media” (which is a blend of materials) top, the back of this top is soft and feels good on your back and the front of the top lays well underneath layers!

I am excited to see Loft also has this Clip Pleated Sleeve White Blouse (size Medium) again this year! I bought this top last year and loved wearing it my own Spring capsule wardrobe last year! Just like all my clothes, I always washed it in cold water, hung to dry, then go over the top with my Rowenta Portable Steamer to remove any wrinkles.

I ordered two dresses and the first one I tried on is this Bouquet Puff Sleeve Midi Dress in the same pattern as the Bouquet Ruffle Mixed Media Blouse above. I mistakingly ordered a Large and should have ordered the Medium, as the Large is huge on me. This dress even has a built-in full slip underneath, so it’s not see through!

The other dress I ordered is this Tie Waist Flounce Dress in the “forever navy” color (size Large). It also comes in a soft green color! I love the softness of the material the cap sleeves and the flutter hem. I’m definitely keeping this dress!

I ordered and tried on these High Rise Straight Crop Jeans (size 30) with this Amazon Puff Sleeve White Tee (size Large). I sized up to a Large in this top for a relaxed fit. I ordered this top through the Amazon Try Before You Buy, where you have 7 days to choose before you buy, then return what you don’t want to keep! I’m also wearing my Veja Campo with natural color logo (size US 9 / UK 40). Like the last pair of straight cut jeans I tried on, these are not flattering on me as I have an hourglass body shape, so I’m returning these jeans. I like “slim straight” cut jeans better as they are the relaxed look of a straight jean, but are more slender for hourglass body shapes.

Here is another blue pattern top I ordered (can you tell my favorite color is blue?). It is the Floral Shirred Tie Neck Blouse (size Medium). The pattern on this top reminds me of a French Blue Toile pattern and is so pretty! This top has a split neck with ties, 3/4 raglan sleeves and is a cotton/modal blend.

Do you recognize this Amazon Supersoft Puff Sleeve Top (size Medium)? I already have it in the “black” color and have worn it for the past two years in my capsule wardrobes. I absolutely LOVE this top and ordered it in the “navy” color, which I’m wearing below. It is a terry style material which wears well and is SO SOFT! This top comes in several other colors to choose from.
