Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022 Try-On Session and Reviews

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale #NSale is going on now and Public Access has begun! So, you don’t have to be a Nordstrom cardholder to shop! Several things I ordered online arrived a few days ago, so I tried on everything, took photos and am sharing them here on the blog for you all to see how they fit.

What Is The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is considered the most important sale of the year. While Nordstrom holds half-yearly sales throughout the year, this sale has become legendary among Nordstrom customers who enjoy outstanding savings on the most exciting new fall and winter merchandise. There’s also summer merchandise on sale too at deep discounts!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is when I buy my core closet essentials that I use in my own capsule wardrobes! Essentials like tees, jeans, sweaters, cardigans and shoes are mostly what I buy. If there are any clothes or shoes in my wardrobe that need replacing, the sale is the perfect opportunity to buy quality-made items at lower prices.

When Is The Anniversary Sale?

It is going on now and ends on July 31. Here is a chart with the dates of the sale…

The Try-On Session

I live several hours away from both Nordstrom stores (the one in Atlanta and the one in Nashville), so it is difficult for me to shop in the store since they are far away. When I received everything I ordered, I tried it all on and created a few outfits for you all to see how to mix and match items in the sale!

First, I wanted to mention if anything is not available in your size or is showing “sold out”, keep checking back because in past anniversary sales, I have seen Nordstrom restock items. It is not guaranteed for every item, but they will restock some items either by replenishing stock or restocking customer returns.

For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh 160 lbs. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (slim fit I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 10 OR a 30 or 31 waist, a 10 inch high rise fits my waist best and a 28 inch inseam falls at my ankle. My shoe size is 9 medium.

I hung everything on my clothes rack to get ready for the try-on. You may notice the mostly everything on my clothes rack are mostly neutral colors, with a few blues, and that’s because I LOVE neutrals. Don’t get me wrong, I love to wear colors, but I myself prefer neutrals, but that’s just my personal preference. Several items I am trying on come in other colors too!

Shop The Outfit:

Treasure & Bond Windowpane Pattern Shirt (true to size, Medium) – is soft and flowy and fits very well. I love the simple, neutral pattern on this one and it will go with so many pieces in your closet! This windowpane shirt is currently sold out, but as I noted above, keep checking back because it may be restocked throughout the sale.

Treasure & Bond Cardigan in “beige oatmeal light heather” (true to size, Medium) – I love the fit of this cardigan and the beige oatmeal color is so pretty.

Spanx Perfect Back Seam Skinny Ankle Pants gifted from Spanx (sized up to an XL) – OMG, I have been wanting this pair of pants for a while now and am so glad to have them! They have a slim fit and are a pull-on style. The pants have faux pockets on the front and pack so they look like pants, but feel like you’re wearing loose leggings! I love these and can’t wait to include them in my Fall and Winter capsule wardrobes.

Steve Madden Mules (true to size, 9) – You may notice the gold links on the mules I’m wearing look different from the ones in the sale. These mules were in last year’s sale, but are the same sand color and same style. This year’s style includes muted color links on top of the shoes instead of the gold links. I loved wearing these last year, as they are very comfy and will be wearing them again this year!

Argento Vivo Molten Pendant Necklace – I love the minimalist style of this gold disc necklace and is 14-karat gold plated sterling silver. I look forward to wearing this a lot.

Ribbed Dolman Sleeve Sweater in “ivory dove” (true to size, Medium) – This sweater is so soft and fits really well! It comes in the ivory color that I’m wearing and also comes in gray.

Stretch Twill Wide Leg Crop Pants in “darkened olive” gifted from Spanx (sized up to XL) – I wanted these pants last year, but never got around to ordering them. I’m so glad I have them in my closet now! The color is a pretty olive and they also come in white. They are a twill pant, but are a pull-on style with stretch! They hug your hips in all the right places and yet are so comfy! I can’t wait to wear these this Fall.

These mules were in last year’s sale, but are the same sand color and same style. This year’s style includes muted color links on top of the shoes instead of the gold links. I loved wearing these last year, as they are very comfy and will be wearing them again this year!

Coach Pebble Leather Shoulder Bag in “taupe” – This was THE bag I wanted in the sale and I absolutly LOVE it! This bag is a best seller and it also comes in black and a chambray blue. I was torn between the taupe and black, but I the taupe will go with more of my outfits. I’m guessing this is a special edition made for the Nordstrom sale, because I don’t see this style on Coach’s website or the Coach outlet site, which makes it unique!

Madewell Lyle Rib Henley Sweater in “heather fog” (true to size, Medium) – This was one of the sweaters I was most excited to order! I love the vertical ribbing texture and the large buttons below v-neck neckline. I can’t wait to wear this sweater this Fall and Winter! It comes in other colors too, including heather saddle color. I chose the heather fog color since it will go with so many bottoms in my closet and I love the neutral color.

Mother The Dazzler Raw Hem Ankle Jeans (wearing a size 31) – Mother jeans run small on my body since I have an hourglass figure, so I wear a 31 in this brand. I was really excited to try these jeans and they do not disappoint! They are not a skinny jean, but fit more like a slim straight jean and have a bit of stretch but hold their shape. I highly recommend them!

Franco Sarto Nemi Bootie in “saddle” (true to size 9) – I bought these exact booties last year and was glad to see them included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! They have a low heel and I love wearing these booties and can walk in them all day with no problems. I have the saddle color, but they also come in other colors too. I highly recommend these boots!

Rails Hunter Plaid Button-Up Shirt in “white robin navy” (true to size, Medium) – Rails is a brand that has been around for years and I always like seeing their shirts. Their shirts are priced a bit higher, but their quality is exceptional, so the time to buy them is when they are on sale! This shirt is more of a blue than navy, which is versatile, so it will go with either navy or black colors. I’m not sure if I’m keeping the windowpane shirt shown above or this one. Even though the medium fits great in this shirt, I would like to size up to a Large for a more relaxed fit.

Free People Marlie Pullover in “pebble” (runs large, I sized down to a Small) – Although I am not usually drawn to the Boho style of the Free People brand, I really like the style, color and texture of this sweater. It is a loose, more relaxed polo color style, which looks great with jeans. It also comes in a mint green and black.

AG Ex-Boyfriend Relaxed Slim Jeans (sized up to a 31) – My normal size in AG jeans is a 31. Being that they are a “boyfriend” style, the waist is a bit straighter, but still fits well. The legs are a straight style with a 27″ inseam, so they fall higher above the ankle than my preference of a 28″ inseam. I love these jeans, but they don’t fit my hourglass body shape exactly how I would like.

La Ligne Sailor Stripe Cotton Sweater in “black/tan” – This sweater is a bit of an investment, but it was heavily discounted in the sale. It is by the La Ligne brand, who makes beautiful clothes and are known for their stripe patterns. This sweater is very well-made and I can see where this sweater will last for years.

Frame Le High Raw Hem Ankle Straight Leg Jeans (size 31) – This is the first time trying on jeans from the Frame brand and I can see why these are more of an investment jean. They are well made and fit really well. They have a bit of stretch but still hold their shape and the denim is very comfortable.

Marc Fisher Yarita Booties (true to size, 9) in “black 01” (leather) – I used to have these booties until I wore them so much that I replaced them with the Yale style last year, which are the ones I am wearing. Both booties are pretty much the same, but the Yarita has a black leather panel on the sides. These Marc Fisher booties are one of my most favorite styles! I also love the “medium natural” color, which is a cognac suede!

Free People Brookside Sweater in “flint” (runs large, sized down to Small) – This was another unexpected piece in the sale and pleasantly surprised at how much I like this sweater. It is thick, yet comfy and I like the scoop neckline. You can wear the sweater by itself with jeans or pants and you can also wear a shirt or turtleneck underneath in the Winter for extra warmth. This sweater comes in other colors too.

Frame Le High Raw Hem Ankle Straight Leg Jeans (size 31) – This is the first time trying on jeans from the Frame brand and I can see why these are more of an investment jean. They are well made and fit really well. They have a bit of stretch but still hold their shape and the denim is very comfortable.

BLANKNYC Plaid High Pile Shacket gifted from BLANKNYC (I’m wearing a Medium) – This fleece jacket is soft and plush and I love the pattern and texture! It kind of reminds me of a teddy coat, so it’s feels cozy. It is a neutral color pattern, so it can be paired with mostly any color in your Fall and Winter outfits.

Halogen Long Sleeve Tee in “white” (sized up to a Large) – I have this tee in black and black stripe and love those, so I thought I would order the white. I don’t like the color as well as it is slightly see through, even with a nude bra, so I will be returning this one. I love the black and striped colors though and wear them a lot underneath layers in the Fall and Winter. These tees have a slim fit so I recommend sizing up one size if you want a more roomy fit.

AG Mari High Waist Ankle Slim Straight Leg Jeans in “night owl” (black) (sized up to a 31) – Since AG jeans run small on my body shape, I always size up to a 31. These fit great in the hips and legs, but are a bit longer than what I would like. I like a 28 inch inseam, but these are a 29 inch, so they fall an inch longer past my ankles. They are a beautiful pair of jeans and do recommend these for their fit and slight stretchiness!

Sam Edelman Ethyl Low Top Sneaker in “bright white leather” (true to size, 9) – Love, love these comfy sneakers! I was glad to see Nordstrom included these in the sale! White casual sneakers are such a versatile shoe and these will go with all your jeans, pants and even casual dresses. I’m not sure if I will be keeping these, as I already have my Veja Campo sneakers (I have the natural suede and black logos), not including in the anniversary sale, but are at Nordstrom!

Treasure & Bond V-Neck Sweater in “Grey Heather” (true to size, Medium) – Treasure & Bond is one of Nordstrom’s exclusive brands that is only at Nordstrom. I love how well made their pieces are and their prices are great. This sweater is lightweight and is a great sweater to wear in the Fall and in mild Winters. I love the v-neck textured neckline and the loose, flowy hem. I did a front tuck with the sweater in the photos to show how it looks with jeans.

The texture of this shirt is light and is soft, so you can wear it now by itself with jeans, pants, skirts or shorts, then layer it underneath cardigans and sweaters in the Fall and Winter! Kendra Scott Camry Beaded Drop Huggie Hoop Earrings in “gold white pearl” – I’m also wearing the matching earrings. What I love about these earrings is you can remove the pearl/gold drop part and just wear the gold huggie earrings by themselves, so they are 2 earrings in one!

Madewell Kent Cardigan in “heather twilight” (slightly oversized, wearing a Medium) – When I ordered this cardigan, I thought it was a dark gray, but it turned out to be a deep blue color, which even more beautiful in person! Although it is a deep blue, it’s not a navy, so you can wear it with either black or navy. I LOVE, LOVE this cardigan and am keeping it! It comes in other colors too!

Nordstrom Cashmere V-Neck Sweater in “camel” (true to size, Medium) – This sweater is absolutely gorgeous and is so soft and warm. The sleeves were a tad long on me with the drop shoulder style, but I cuffed them and they looked good! I like that Nordstrom offers 100% cashmere sweaters in the sale, so it makes them more affordable with the savings.

Nordstrom Cashmere Crewneck Sweater in “beige oatmeal light heather” (true to size, Medium) – This crewneck style sweater feels like the camel one above and is so soft. I forgot to take a picture of the sweater by itself, but you can see the lovely oatmeal color underneath the jacket. I love the light ribbing detail around the neckline.

Kut From The Kloth Milana Faux Suede Moto Jacket in “buff” (wearing a Large) – I love the flowy silhouette of this jacket and the buff color is a gorgeous cool brown color. It is not lined, making it a lightweight jacket to layer easily over your tops and sweaters.

Halogen Long Sleeve Tee in “black ivory cloud stripe” (sized up to a Large) – I have had this tee a couple of years and it still looks new. I included it in my own Athleisure Winter capsule wardrobe and enjoyed wearing it. It is not see through and it a longer length so you can wear it over leggings, with jeans and also with dresses and tucked in pants.

Marc Fisher Yarita Booties (true to size, 9) in “black 01” (leather) – I used to have these booties until I wore them so much that I replaced them with the Yale style last year, which are the ones I am wearing. Both booties are pretty much the same, but the Yarita has a black leather panel on the sides. These Marc Fisher booties are one of my most favorite styles! I also love the “medium natural” color, which is a cognac suede!

Argento Vivo Molten Pendant Necklace – I love the minimalist style of this gold disc necklace and is 14-karat gold plated sterling silver. I look forward to wearing this a lot.

Free People Brookside Sweater in “flint” (runs large, sized down to Small) – This was another unexpected piece in the sale and pleasantly surprised at how much I like this sweater. It is thick, yet comfy and I like the scoop neckline. You can wear the sweater by itself with jeans or pants and you can also wear a shirt or turtleneck underneath in the Winter for extra warmth. This sweater comes in other colors too.

ON Cloudswift Running Shoe in “glacier/white” (sized up to a 9.5) – I tend to wear a larger size in athletic sneakers so I’m wearing a 9.5 and they fit great. I have never worn this brand before, but heard they were comfy. They are very comfortable and supportive too. I’ll be including these shoes in my own mini Athleisure capsule to wear on the weekends this winter.

What I’m Keeping & Returning

I’ve got to decide which items to keep and which ones to return I ordered from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Oh, I wish I could keep EVERYTHING since it’s all beautiful, but I will go through each piece and decide. The pieces I will keep will be ones I can wear with AT LEAST 3 pieces I currently have in my closet and be comfortable and pleasing to wear. By following that criteria about what goes in my closet, I tend to make wise choices about how I spend my money and shop with purpose.
