What Is The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is considered the most important sale of the year. While Nordstrom holds half-yearly sales throughout the year, this sale has become legendary among Nordstrom customers who enjoy outstanding savings on the most exciting new fall and winter merchandise. There’s also summer merchandise on sale too at deep discounts!

The Anniversary Sale is when I buy my core closet essentials that I use in my capsule wardrobes! Essentials like tees, jeans, sweaters, cardigans and shoes. If there are any clothes or shoes in my wardrobe that need replacing, the sale is the perfect opportunity to buy quality-made items at lower prices.

The Try-On Session Round 2

A couple of weeks ago I placed a HUGE order, but only half of it was shipped. I tried on everything I received in the 1st shipment and created a few outfits for you all to see how to mix and match items in the sale in this blog post, Huge Try-On Session Round 1.

I received the rest of my order yesterday, which included many items, but only 5 were still available, UUGGGHHHH! I was looking forward to trying everything on and showing you all, but now since the majority of everything is sold out, I don’t want to link those shopping links for you all and not be able to buy them. So, I created a few cute outfits with items that are still available (at the time I’m writing this blog post).

First, I wanted to mention if anything is not available in your size, keep checking back because in past anniversary sales, I have seen Nordstrom restock items. It is not guaranteed for every item, but they will restock some items either by replenishing stock or restocking customer returns. So, if you see an item you want, I recommend buying it, because it may not be available later!

For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh 160 lbs. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and style of the top (slim fit I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 10. My shoe size is 9.

In the first outfit, I’m wearing the Rails Collins Jacket in “sage” (size Large, should have tried a Medium), Vince Camuto Polka Dot Blouse (size Medium) and Wit & Wisdom Luxe Touch Ab-Solution Straight Jeans (size 10). First, let’s talk about the Wit & Wisdom Straight Jeans. Let me mention that I prefer skinny jeans over any other style of jeans, so I was kind of apprehensive about ordering these straight style jeans. They have not been any straight jeans I have tried on that have liked. But, being that Wit & Wisdom are my FAVORITE brand of jeans, I thought I would try them. When I was putting them on, I first noticed how soft they are, just like my pair of Wit & Wisdom skinny jeans that I just loved wearing this past Spring season! Then, when I got them on, I noticed the “ab-solution band around the waist” (great for holding them in place all day) and how well they fit! They have just a bit of distressing on either side of the upper legs, have a raw hem and are a beautiful shade of medium wash denim! I’m considering keeping these as they will be a nice mix with my skinny jeans in my capsule wardrobes.

I absolutely love the color and style of this Rails Collins Jacket in “sage” (size Large). I ordered a Large and should have ordered a Medium, as the Large is too big. If it comes back in stock, I may try to order it in the Medium. But, don’t you just love how it’s shorter than the usual utility jacket? To me, it looks more a bit more feminine than a regular utility jacket. I found a similar jacket at Old Navy that is available in an “arugula” color, like the shade of this jacket. This Vince Camuto Polka Dot Blouse (size Medium) is a versatile top that you can wear underneath jackets or cardigans in the Fall or you can wear it now with shorts or jeans (shows in the photo below). I added this Wool Hat in “tan” that I bought the other day when my Hubby and I went to Atlanta and my Tory Burch Minnie Travel Ballet Black Flats.

Next, I tried on this Chelsea28 V-Neck High/Low Sweater in “beige oatmeal heather” (size Medium). I absolutely LOVE Chelsea28 sweaters! They are so soft, have a relaxed fit and hold their shape well wash after wash. This would be a comfy outfit to wear while working at home! I’m wearing the Wit & Wisdom Luxe Touch Ab-Solution Straight Jeans (size 10) and these Steve Madden Chain Mules in “leopard print” (size 9.5, sized up half a size). I was so disappointed that when I could start shopping that the light tan color of these mules were sold out. And, sizes are very limited on these mules. I hope Nordstrom restocks all the colors of these mules because they are just so darling!

I’m keeping these Wit & Wisdom Ab-Solution Skinny Ankle Black Jeans (size 10)! They fit perfectly and they are a luxe, rich black color, simply gorgeous! I’m looking forward to including these in my Fall capsule wardrobe, so you’ll be seeing more of these jeans. I’m also wearing the Chelsea28 V-Neck High/Low Sweater in “beige oatmeal heather” (size Medium), the Dolce Vita Bo Booties in “tan/black suede” (size 9), the Kendra Scott Sydney Charm Bar Necklace in “mixed metal” and the darling Tory Burch Carson black convertible bag.

Here’s a closer look at these Dolce Vita Bo Booties in “tan/black suede”. The leopard pattern is smaller so it blends well with your outfits and it includes studs that are along the edging of the booties.

I ordered these Zella Restore Soft Pocket Leggings in “black” (size Large) and had to show you all how darling these are! They have stitching around the pockets on the front, on the seams and look a bit like joggers at the ankles, but with a legging fit. This outfit would be perfect for working at home or staying in on the weekends. I’m wearing the All In Favor Tee in “white” (size Large) and the BP. Open Stitch Cardigan in “beige oatmeal heather” (size Medium).

Let’s talk about these Cole Haan GrandPro Spectator Slip-On Sneakers in “sparkle snake print” (size 9). The pattern on these sneakers is beautiful and they fit perfectly. Although the name includes “sparkle”, they don’t actually sparkle but they have a hint of irridescence to the pattern. I am totally impressed with these sneakers! They instantly make a statement to what would be an all-neutral outfit. I’m definitely considering keeping these shoes!

Since it is Summer, you could leave off the BP. Open Stitch Cardigan and just wear the All In Favor Tee with the Zella Restore Soft Pocket Leggings and the Slip-On Sneakers. The photo below shows the cute stitching on the leggings!

This cute top is the BP. Cozy Top in “pink smoke etched animal” (size Large). I also ordered the BP. Jogger Pants in the same pattern (sold out) and also the “grey pearl marl” and they are both SO soft. I’m wearing the Zella Restore Soft Pocket Leggings in “black” (size Large). This would be another great outfit to wear while working at home!

But, I’m not sure which other items I will keep and which ones I will return. I still have to try on the items that are sold out that I didn’t include in this post!
